MJJVGMEPI (Japanese Video Game Music EP One)

This is my tribute to my first musical love: Chiptune.

These are all reworks, live edits, covers and remixes of video game tunes than have inspired me in one way or another. They are reworked in an electronic music style similar to the work of Sasha, William Orbit, and DJ Shadow. It took me around 5 years to convince myself that my work isn't complete dogsh1t. I am happy to now share these with everyone.

Matthew J. became interested in electronic music at the early age of 11 when he was introduced to dance remixes of popular artists of the early 90's such as Michael & Janet Jackson, Gloria Estefan, and Madonna. This led to the discovering of artists abroad; Massive Attack, Sasha, Underworld, BT, William Orbit and other artists under the radar of the radio airwaves.

As Matthew had also been inspired by the melodic sounds of the 1990's progressive house, downtempo/ambient, and world music he strives to weave sounds of numerous genres to present a modern day fusion of popular and underground dance music. He has played numerous clubs and events throughout the American west coast opening for the likes of John Digweed, Nick Warren, Hernan Cattaneo, Henry Saiz, Sandra Collins and many other well known artists in the electronic music community.
