Schaut man sich einmal die Insel Sylt aus musikalischer Sicht an, merkt man schnell, dass auf dieser Insel nicht nur Prominente und Touristen residieren, sondern dass es auf Sylt eine lebendige Musikszene gibt, die fast alle Musikstile vertritt. Dazu gehört auch eine Band Namens „Be Choir!“.
Das sind sechs Sylter Jungs, die Freude an der Musik haben und dies zeigen, indem sie singen, Instrumente mit ihren Stimmen „spielen“ und sich auf der Bühne nicht allzu ernst nehmen. Gegründet hat sich diese Formation aus dem Jugendchor der Schule für Sylt Ende 2010.
Die Sylter Musiklehrerin Beate Salzig leitet seit vielen Jahren diesen Chor und präsentiert mit ihm neben vielen anderen Auftritten jährlich ein Weihnachtskonzert, dass auf Sylt große Anerkennung genießt.
Ein Wunsch von Beate Salzig war es, mit den Jungs aus dem Chor einige Lieder a cappella vorzuführen, woraus sich letztendlich „Be Choir!“ formierte.
Anfang Januar 2011 hieß es durchstarten, proben, Bühnenperformance einstudieren und sich als Band finden, denn Mitte März stand der jährliche Sylter Musikwettbewerb „Henner Krogh Förderpreis“ vor der Tür. Dieser Wettbewerb war der erste Auftritt der Jungs unter dem Namen „Be Choir!“ und dort belegten sie den ersten Platz mit voller Punktzahl.
Die Platzierung bedeutete nicht nur einen Geld-, sondern auch ein Sachpreis in Form eines Studioaufenthalts mit anschließender PR-Arbeit und einer CD-Produktion. Das Ergebnis: „Flutsound (Vol.1)“, auf der zwei Lieder von „Be Choir!“ zu hören sind, eines davon mit Unterstützung von „BENDIX“.
Im Laufe des Sommers 2011/12 gaben „Be Choir!“ einige Auftritte auf Sylt, unter anderem bei der Programmeröffnungsveranstaltung des Meerkabaretts und den Best of Henner Krogh in der Sylt-Quelle.
Derzeit arbeiten die Jungs an weiteren Liedern, um spätestens nächsten Sommer wieder Konzerte zu geben.

Looking at Germany's northernmost island Sylt, one may find not only celebrities or tourists, but also a vital music scene which covers almost all of the popular genres. Part of that scene is a band called “Be Choir!”.
It consists of six guys who show their enjoyment in music by singing, “playing” instruments with their voices and not taking themselves too seriously on stage. All six being dedicated members of Sylt's youth choir wanted to take their singing a step further and founded the band at the end of 2010.
Music teacher Beate Salzig has been leading that choir for many years now and presents, among other performances, a yearly Christmas concert which is highly regarded by Sylt's residents.
It was her wish to have a few songs being performed a cappella by the men of the choir.. Eventually, this idea led to the formation of "Be Choir!"
At the start of January 2011 it was time for them to take off, practice songs and their appearance on stage and find themselves as a band, for Sylt's yearly music competition “Henner Krogh Förderpreis”, taking place in the middle of March, was near. It was their first gig as “Be Choir!” for which they won first place with the highest score possible.
This placement not only meant winning money, but also the opportunity to record their own songs (of which one was written for them as part of the prize) in a professional studio followed by promotion and a CD production. The result: “Flutsound (Vol. 1)”, which contains two songs, one of them being accompanied by “BENDIX”.
Over the summers of 2011/12 “Be Choir!” performed several gigs on Sylt, including the event opening the seasonal program of the Meerkabarett (Sylt's main location for all kinds of performances), and “Best of Henner Krogh”.
Currently the guys are working on additional songs for their setlist in order for them to give concerts again by next summer.
