Preparing for my first performance as a DJ. Had to take a break from playing around with what will eventually turn into a set, to play around with a couple of beautiful tracks from Ryogo Yamamori.
I wanted to try something different, something slower. 

This one starts quite simple but as the time goes on the tension rises constantly.

How can you not love this music? It's so versatile, deep and expressive. The magic of Techno never ceases to amaze me.

I have made a lot of progress at mixing. I really like this set. 🖤

Starting this year enthusiastic.
Played a gig in January. I've closed the set with my own track - really happy with how it turned out!
Have 2 more coming!
I'm gently leaning towards spending more time actually creating music. After a playing around in Ableton Live for an entire evening I've pretty much sketched out an idea for a track. Goal is to actually FINISH more tracks. I'm not going to share all of them but I want to get into the habit of finishing music. 

-Improvised set with tracks that I've never actually listened to before apart from short snippets while being on a beatport track hunt.

D.A.V.E. The Drummer is a techno DJ and producer from the UK. He's been making electronic music since 1993 and has made dowzens of acid techno and hard techno records which are available on many well respected record labels. He runs Hydraulix records and also teaches music production online.

February's Live mix is here and it's a belter, this week we hear from Alex Blakemore otherwise known as 'Balrog' but on this occasion he assumes the 'The Groovemeister General' monika for just under 2 hours of House on steds, disco fuelled techno and tribal flavours sprinkled throughout, the 909 is strong on this one. 

Some words from Alex:

"This mix was recorded live from Eastern Bloc for the recent Northern Groove Association event which hosted Habgud the featured artist, The Groovemeister General (AKA. Balrog)

For his set, TGG focused on playing records from his substantial collection of house cuts and techno from the late 90s and early 2000s. This 1.45hr recording is from the final stages of his 3hr set, moving from some house edits into rolling techno grooves."

Patrick DSP is an uncompromising techno stalwart who has been smashing sound systems around the world. His style has remained energetic, raw, and powerful, no matter the current techno trends. Standing in front of a sound system while he works the decks is like standing in front of a moving train: it’s not something you’ll soon forget, but in a good way.

His extensive discography includes releases on his own Hardsignal Records as well as seminal labels like Heroes, Hydraulix, Kne' Deep, and the legendary Djax-Up Beats. His production style is inspired by his DJing: tight and thumping with a high level of energy and drive. With those kinds of bona fides, it is no surprise that he has DJed so many legendary events worldwide, spanning massive festivals like Germany's famous Love Parade, Amsterdam Dance Event, MayDay, and Awakenings, to clubs like Madrid's Fabrik, and Tresor Berlin.
Patrick started spinning records at underground raves in Canada in 1996 and quickly found himself making the music that had drawn him to DJing. Music production was a window into sonic exploration and new music technologies that led him to create everything from film scores to his signature pounding techno sounds. As he honed his skills, he also taught others how to make
music, gave advice and taught classes on music production and mastering.

After relocating to Berlin, Patrick parlayed his hard work and dedication to his craft into mastering music for other artists, eventually opening Neptune Mastering in Berlin. As an engineer with an intimate knowledge of dance music sound systems and culture, he understands how critical it is tomake a record hit hard on a dance floor. 

Whether as a DJ, producer, engineer, or just a guy who loves techno, Patrick DSP has dedicated his time and energy to techno. He's stayed true to the sound he loves the most, and whether you're listening to a record he's made or having your hair blasted back by one of his blistering DJ sets,
you know he's not holding anything back. It's full-on, it's charging, and it's real.

The label's first EP, Endophasic Perspective, consists of five original tracks and two remixes by C-System (MFM Records) and DCM (Dissident Music), who contribute their particular vision of Techno. The EP is a look inside the artist during the different phases that occur in the development of a project, reflecting a swing of emotions that translate into dark and raw sounds, enveloping atmospheres, broken rhythms and forcefulness. We are over the moon to finally guest our old friend and legend Chris Liberator on our podcast series. Chris needs little introduction really. At part from being one of the most skilled vinyl DJs around and excellent producer with tons of great releases on cult labels, included our sister label Polymeric, he is also a great multi-instrumentalist, having played in several punk bands in his heydays, and still doing so today! At part from this, he is one of the best persons in the scene, with his anti-establishment attitude, and down to earth friendly approach. Chris started djing back in 1991 playing his first ever party in a squat in North London (organised with the fledgling Liberator crew featuring himself, Julian and Aaron). Liberator soon made a name for themselves putting on parties in and around North East London in squats and underground venues, and it wasn’t long before they began hooking up with other crews doing similar stuff including Bedlam, Full On, Zero Gravity and Megadog who they all played regularly for with their firebrand mix of Acid, hard Techno and Rave. Getting involved with the illegal raves kicking off in the UK at the time (including Lechlade and Castle Morton) via their numerous traveller connections saw them hook up with crews out in Europe from Prague and Holland and they began travelling internationally as well. In 1993 they began their label Stay Up Forever to represent their own unique style, and as it progressed and they met more producers like DDR, D.A.V.E. The Drummer, Gizelle, Geezer and Lawrie Immersion, the sound of London Techno and Acid Techno as we know it was born.

Chris went on to start the SUF Collective (which he runs with Aaron Liberator) and began DJing across the world including places as far flung as Brazil, Venezuela, Japan, South Africa and Australia, and his name quickly became synonymous with the sound of the London Techno he represented. Meanwhile he continued to support his roots playing thousands of squat parties and underground raves in London, UK and Europe, keeping it firmly ‘real’ despite making DJ mag’s top 100 dj list on several occasions and producing some of the era’s most popular Acd Techno mix cds.
