Alex Zander and guest host Dawn Wattles catch up with an old friend Ron Marks this Sunday afternoon May 2nd 2021.

Subsonic, which was founded in 2000 by former Celtic Frost guitarist Ron Marks, has released several previous albums on the DSN label, with Trifecta in 2012, and Honeycomb in 2014, as well as the comedy project Sour Pup in 2016.

Ron Marks is a third-generation musician and composer. He began playing drums at age five and guitar at fifteen, which inspired him to compose original works. A home recording studio provided the creative forum necessary to develop and record more than 500 original and cover tracks.

Marks performed as lead guitarist for Celtic Frost in 1987 and toured the UK and US with the group in support of the Into The Pandemonium release. He is also credited as a co-writer on their 1990 album Vanity/Nemesis.

The  third studio album by the American glam metal band L.A. Guns, released in 1991. While no track from the album topped the charts (and the band's success declined soon afterwards as their style fell out of commercial favor), Hollywood Vampires presents various shades of the band and is representative of the late 1980s/early 1990s heavy metal scene, with riff-laden songs and big choruses on every song. The meticulous production gives the album a sound typical of the period — a full sound, with many background harmony vocals, layered guitars and additional keyboard tracks.

My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult (often shortened to Thrill Kill Kult or TKK) is an American electronic industrial rock band originally based in Chicago and founded by Groovie Mann (born Frankie Nardiello) and Buzz McCoy (born Marston Daley). They became known in the 1980s as pioneers of the industrial music genre – although by the early 1990s they had changed to a more disco-oriented sound – and as a frequent target of censorship groups, including the PMRC, which objected to the band's humorous and satirical references to Satan, Jesus and sex in their song lyrics and stage shows.

During the early 1990s, Thrill Kill Kult had several hits on the U.S. dance club and alternative charts. They also contributed songs to several movie soundtracks and appeared in the 1994 film The Crow. The band has continued to record and tour with a rotating lineup in addition to core members Mann and McCoy.

Kelly served as a fill-in drummer for heavy metal band Pist.On on an American tour while their drummer, Jeff McManus, dealt with chronic muscle pain.

On February 25, 2011, it was announced that Kelly would be replacing Will Hunt as the drummer for Black Label Society for the remainder of their European tour. He made his first live performance with the band that night at La Cigale in Paris, France.

On March 10, 2014, it was announced that Vinny Appice had left Kill Devil Hill, and that Kelly was his replacement

On January 29, 2018, it was announced on the band's website that A Pale Horse Named Death had recruited Tommy Spano of Corey Glover and Sekond Skyn as the new drummer, replacing Kelly. On April 5, 2018, it was announced that Kelly was once again the band's drummer.

Kelly has been the drummer for Danzig since 2002 (with the exception of a hiatus from 2003 to 2005), and recorded drums for the band's ninth album Deth Red Sabaoth (2010), covers album Skeletons (2015), and shared drum duty on the band's latest album Black Laden Crown (2017).

On September 9, 2020, it was announced that Kelly had joined Quiet Riot as the replacement of then-recently deceased drummer Frankie Banali. Kelly had previously filled in for Banali on the band's 2019 and 2020 shows.

Some artists go through multiple transformations early in their career, stumbling from one idea or genre to the next, before finding their true artistic selves. And then there are artists like Matthew Lidwin, frontman for goth metal band 616, who emerged seemingly fully formed and ready to share his vision with the world. Hailing from Milwaukee, WI, Lidwin formed 616 in 2018 drawing inspiration from bands such as HIM, The 69 Eyes and Type O Negative.

Along the way, Lidwin has been ably helped by collaborations with pro-skateboarder and fellow musician Bam Margera, drummer Mika “Gas Lipstick” Karppinen of HIM/Flat Earth, and multi-platinum producer John Fryer (NIN/Stabbing Westward). In 2020, 616 signed with indie giant Cleopatra Records and began issuing new music both on digital as well as physical formats. Today, Lidwin is working tirelessly to bring about the next stage for 616, a new album, more music videos and devout dedication to what he terms “Love Metal.”

Brooklyn-based electronic-sleaze, disco-dance-metal grime group Makes My Blood Dance cannot be assigned to one genre, and instead fuses styles from all across the board, incorporating elements of cyberpunk, metal, and pop. Lead singer EVO is joined by Jon Kristian on guitar and synth to create infectious melodies and hard-hitting riffs that stick with listeners even after the song has ended.

Frontman EVO founded MMBD with lead guitar/synth player Jon Kristian at a transitional time in life; early in recovery from addiction, the two connected over their mutual passion for metal and bonded over their personal journeys. The Brigadoon, Longtime Jefferson Park Tavern, Reopens As The Brig With Rock-And-Roll Vibe Under New Owners

JEFFERSON PARK — A longtime neighborhood tavern is back in action after getting a facelift thanks to its new owners.

The Brig, 5748 W. Lawrence Ave., which was formerly The Brigadoon, reopened this month after being closed for nearly 10 months. The bar has been remodeled with a rock-and-roll theme with all-new floors, bar equipment, seats, artwork and a fresh coat of striking red paint.

Owners Mike Shamoun and Eric Mills took over in June after its previous owner died and left the property to his family, who decided to sell the building, the owners said. The two friends, who have decades of experience in the hospitality and bar industry, had been thinking about opening a bar together for several years, they said.

“We’re a neighborhood bar with a little bit of rock and roll in it. … We still have the neighborhood vibe where people can come in and get to know everybody,” Shamoun said.

Since then, he has appeared in dozens of television programs and films, in music videos and at thousands of venues and stages as an actor, stand-up comedian, a character impersonator, a musical artist, and even as a professional clown, entertaining tens of thousands of kids at festivals, schools, and private events. For two years he seamlessly performed the role of Johnny Cash in the tribute band Folsom, and also performed hundreds of times throughout the years at various functions and events as Elvis. MKULTRASOUND was created by Alex Zander (Chicago) founder of MK ULTRA Magazine who serves as host and producer along with Executive Producer Too Dark Mark (Baton Rouge) video editing for YouTube by various editors. The show is recorded in Chicago at Studio D-Ablo and with production in Baton Rouge at ALAB Media.

As founder of MK ULTRA Magazine Alex Zander acted as publisher, editor, promoter, sales executive and made all distributions deals and oversaw all staff operations. 

Established in 1995 mk ultra magazine was an born when alternative music became mainstream this publication became considered, dark, and or underground or part of a subculture, which is in part true, but the body of work itself defies definition. 

Once dubbed the most anti establishment publication of it's kind mk ultra magazine always danced on the edge of what was considered acceptable by the staus quo, and it always will. 

MK ULTRA started out as only  a 28 page newsprint tabloid with a small run of only 250 copies published in Pittsburgh, PA. By the summer of 1995 (and two issues) MK ULTRA received national recognition and subscriptions over the world. Till 2000 it was available free. 

By 2001 MK ULTRA was nearly 100 pages per issue with full color glossy cover and centerfold and worldwide distribution with Tower Records and Desert Moon Publications becoming distributed worldwide and also sponsored 2 national tours headlined by Invisible Records artist, Pigface. . 

The cover price was $5 per issue. 

In 1999 they produced and hosted an hour long weekly radio program, MK ULTRASOUND on FM station Rebel Radio WJKL 94.3. Later that year it was picked up by Flagstaff Arizona's LOUD RADIO Network KLOD 100.1 FM and began syndication as the MK ULTRASOUND Radio Network known for it's cutting edge non mainstream music, dark and sometimes controversial humor as well as in depth live uncensored interviews. The show ran until early 2002.
