Live recording of the premier of Quasar as the opening concert to Meta.Morf festival in Trondheim, Norway in 2020. Conducted by Halldis Rønning. Commissioned by Trondheim Sinfonietta with support from the Norwegian Composer's fund. This is just a short excerpt of the 25 minute piece. 

The electronics are in HOA 3rd order. For this concert there are 8 speakers around the audience. Additionally, 5 avatar speakers are in front of the string quintet.

Quasar - 2020 - Excerpt

Commissioned by Gabriel Trottier for his ph.d in performance at L'université de Montréal. This is a live take recorded at the studios there. 

All electronics are live and react directly to how Gabriel is playing through the use of score following.

Degrade Me was commissioned by Dasein Ensemble and NyMusikk Komponistgruppe with support from the Norwegian Cultural Fund. It was premiered November 2021 in Stavanger, Norway by Insimul. The premier was in a rather perculiar place acoustically as you can hear. Recording by Arne Stian Aarrestad.

Degrade Me - 2021 - Excerpt

This is an acousmatic piece with aspects of generative music. It was composed for a dome of 36 speakers, and premiered at a festival by Vitensenteret in Trondheim, Norway in October 2021.

Recorded by Anders Lily & Mathieu Lacroix in Oavshallen in Trondheim, 2014. This is a completely live recording with no overdubs of an improvisation the acclaimed pianist and songwriter Marita Røstad (of Hoist!) did with the drummer Jostein Braaten.

Marita Røstad & Jostein Braaten - Free Improvisation

Mathieu Lacroix is a French-Canadian composer working in Norway. His music is performed in many countries on three continents and several festival. He is artistic co-director of Electroacoustic Trondheim (EA -T). He is also a member of the Electric Audio Unit with Natasha Barrett and Ernst van der Loo. In 2021 he completed a PhD thesis on synchronization strategies in mixed music. His music aims to make electronics and acoustic performers react to each other and interpret music together as a living ecosystem. His inspirations come from nature, literature, languages, and many types of music, from contemporary to extreme metal and avant-prog. He also plays bass and Chapman Stick, and works as a producer and sound engineer. He is currently a guest lecturer at various universities and has an associate professorship in composition and music production at Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences.
