Inspired by the novel Dawn by Octavia E. Butler

Dawn is a sweeping cinematic score based on the first book of the Lilith’s Brood trilogy by the legendary Octavia E. Butler. This album serves as my musical interpretation of her profound and haunting tale—one of loss, survival, and evolution.

The story follows Lilith Iyapo, who once lived peacefully with her family in the Andes Mountains—until a devastating nuclear war obliterated humanity. Centuries later, Lilith awakens aboard a mysterious alien vessel, under the watch of the Oankali—an advanced species driven by an instinct to heal and evolve through genetic merging. As the last remnants of humanity are studied and prepared for a second chance at life, not all agree with the terms of this new beginning.

With themes of love, sadness, hope, and conflict, the music in Dawn is meant to transport the listener—whether or not they’re familiar with the book. You’ll feel the quiet sorrow of a ruined Earth… the awe and unease of first contact… the strange, electric connection between Lilith and the Oankali being Nikanj… and the tension of a species on the brink of transformation.

This album is a journey through emotional and otherworldly landscapes, where humanity’s survival depends not on strength, but on change.

Dawn is a tribute to one of science fiction’s most powerful stories, and I’m honored to present it in musical form.

Once upon a time (with Boson Spin)

I recorded a short scream and started looping, slowing and speeding up. There was some added background noise from a random classical radio station picked up by the Fieldkit and I added a simple looped line to break up the sound of my screams.

The Assignment: Play over a song, and then remove the original.

Step 1: The point of this project is to cover a song in the literal sense of the word. To “cover” a song usually means to play your own version of it. Here, you will blanket the original: you will play atop a song you like, and then remove the original so only your accompaniment is heard. The original will not be recognizable in what remains. First, choose the song you want to blanket.

Step 2: Record yourself playing along with the song you selected in Step 1.

Step 3: Remove the song from Step 1 so that only the original recording from Step 2 remains.

Step 4: You needn’t identify the song from Step 1 when posting your track, but certainly feel free to do so.

I am still looking, trying and experimenting, I really like electronic ambient for many years, but it only works as a live percussionist. In short, nothing is black or white:)
In today's hectic world I need quiet sounds and the vast majority of songs created at night, so are my compositions such as they are.

My tracks is based on the absolute freedom of the use of sound. Arises as if I painted a picture. In the head is the base, and then adding the details here and there.
As well as if I were his music told the story.

I use: Ableton-Live-Suite with Partnerinstrumets, Kontakt Player + virtual instrumentzs,NI-Machine, Ableton Push, Acces Virus TI Snow, Waldorf Blofeld, AKAI MPK 49, Korg Microkorg XL+,KORG Kaossilator,Kaosspad,KORG Wavedrum, Roland HPD 20, nord lead A1 r, Yamaha mx49, Roland Edirol for Fieldrecordings - and various live percussion.(Kalimba, frame drum, tombak, koshi etc)
