Haiku poetry and music.

Naviar Haiku is a music project in which artists are invited to make new music inspired by a weekly assigned haiku poem. Participation is free and there are no limitations in the songs’ length or genre.

Haiku is a traditional and short form of Japanese poetry consisting of three lines: it’s about moments of objective experience which lead to deeper considerations about life and nature. The juxtaposition of two images or ideas and the consequent creation of a gap in the imagery gives the reader (or, in this case, the musician) the chance to complete the poem with his/her own interpretation.

This project is about expanding the meaning of a poem beyond its words, and the active role of the reader in haiku poetry, unique in the literary realm, is what inspired this project.

Its not the act but the space in between... segment from a longer wooden megaphone recording made in a snow covered forest in southeastern Estonia with a group of visiting students from the Estonian Academy of Music (CoPeCo - Contemporary Performance and Composition program www.copeco.net). Everyone was distributed about the forest roughly 40-60 meters from the microphones. Recorded on my Tascam DR-100mkIII using two Primo EM172 omni microphones that were placed 2 meters off the ground.

I am still looking, trying and experimenting, I really like electronic ambient for many years, but it only works as a live percussionist. In short, nothing is black or white:)
In today's hectic world I need quiet sounds and the vast majority of songs created at night, so are my compositions such as they are.

My tracks is based on the absolute freedom of the use of sound. Arises as if I painted a picture. In the head is the base, and then adding the details here and there.
As well as if I were his music told the story.

I use: Ableton-Live-Suite with Partnerinstrumets, Kontakt Player + virtual instrumentzs,NI-Machine, Ableton Push, Acces Virus TI Snow, Waldorf Blofeld, AKAI MPK 49, Korg Microkorg XL+,KORG Kaossilator,Kaosspad,KORG Wavedrum, Roland HPD 20, nord lead A1 r, Yamaha mx49, Roland Edirol for Fieldrecordings - and various live percussion.(Kalimba, frame drum, tombak, koshi etc)
