The Other Way Around   /   Ft. Ed Cunningham

This is the third track of a new collaboration with my music friend Pete Swinton. I will be re-working some of his tracks from his excellent Project Drone Adzan Maghrib album.

This track is a re-work of the Project Adzan 6. It was mixed in the AUM app on my iPad and used the excellent apps VHS Synth, Stria, Eventide Blackhole, Kosmonaut, Bleass Reverb, Bleass Chrous, Eucliden and Barricade.

The Vier Letzte Lieder by Richards Strauss (1864-1949) is one of the highlights of Late Romanticism and is one of my favorite pieces with all its capricious chromaticism and harmonic modulations. The so-called “floating tonality”, in which the limits of the tonal system are explored. (See also Mahler and Wagner.) Originally it is a symphonic poem for voice and orchestra. I made an arrangement and replaced the vocals with the violin. The challenge for me was to present my VST's software (Virtual Sound Technic) as convincingly as possible, so that it was barely distinguishable from a “real” (acoustic) orchestra. That also meant playing/editing (and blowing in with the TEC controller) of 27 tracks (instruments)….using Divisimate.

When love deceives, when love fails.
A melancholic love song for Piano, Saxophone and String Orchestra.
Improvised and recorded in my sound studio.

The two instruments, Piano and Sax, are in a dialog.
Carried by a soft orchestral sound, they exchange tunes, they complement, sometimes imitate, sometimes contradict each other. 
Rarely forming a common harmony.

Little erratic time signatures reinforce the sense of disharmony.

I am still looking, trying and experimenting, I really like electronic ambient for many years, but it only works as a live percussionist. In short, nothing is black or white:)
In today's hectic world I need quiet sounds and the vast majority of songs created at night, so are my compositions such as they are.

My tracks is based on the absolute freedom of the use of sound. Arises as if I painted a picture. In the head is the base, and then adding the details here and there.
As well as if I were his music told the story.

I use: Ableton-Live-Suite with Partnerinstrumets, Kontakt Player + virtual instrumentzs,NI-Machine, Ableton Push, Acces Virus TI Snow, Waldorf Blofeld, AKAI MPK 49, Korg Microkorg XL+,KORG Kaossilator,Kaosspad,KORG Wavedrum, Roland HPD 20, nord lead A1 r, Yamaha mx49, Roland Edirol for Fieldrecordings - and various live percussion.(Kalimba, frame drum, tombak, koshi etc)
