Jonah’s Prayer

Chorus:
Hear my cry O my Master, and to my prayer incline Your ears, have mercy on me, and hold my hand, for I am in desperate need of You

My soul has grown weary and tired, from my depths I plead to You, and You alone I remember, because You quench my yearning heart

Verse 2:
Billows and waves passed over me, all my burdens are heavy, have I been cast out of Your sight? My spirit longs for Your comfort

Jonah prayed from the belly of the fish, You brought his life up from the pit, from the realm of death he cried for help, With love and mercy he heard Your voice

My soul is troubled in the deep, 
And my eyes are full of tears, 
(Now I remembered You indeed,) x2
(For Your salvation is so near.) x2

All of the waves came upon me, 
And I was drowned in the deep sea,

Emmanuel, our God, • the great [and] awesome one, • the invisible one • in His divine glory;
By the greatness • of His goodness, • He was revealed to us • and we witnessed Him -

through his incarnation • of the holy Mary. • She bore him for the world • while remaining a virgin.
