The Octāves were founded in 1990 as part of a senior project. The name "The Octāves" came from the musical term "octave", and served as a clever reference to the school mascot, the Richmond Spiders (spiders have eight legs). Over the past 22 years, The 'Taves have consistently been a part of campus life at The University of Richmond. As time progressed, so did the quality of the group, and they began moving their talents off campus, performing all over the east coast and at various events, from non-profit community concerts to meetings of top Secret Service employees. 

They brought their talents to the recording studio as well after a couple years, and today, The Octāves are proud to offer 10 complete albums. These critically acclaimed albums have been recognized nationally, receiving nominations for the Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards (CARA) and making appearances on the Voices Only and Best of College A Cappella (BOCA) compilations. 

Today, The Octāves continue their quest for greatness, as they continue to perform on and off campus, and plan the recording of their next album. They will continue to work hard toward their goals for as long as there is music to be sung. The Octāves are proud of their history and they would like to offer huge thanks to their fans. Without them, there would be no history at all.

Juxtaposition was established in 1994 and has since produced eight albums, including our most recent, Young at Eight, and been awarded numerous awards and honors. Traveling to colleges all along the east coast we enjoy performing our wide repertoire of 70's, 80's, 90's and current hits. However, our favorite gigs are those that occur on campus for our fellow Hokies. We perform to a sold out crowd twice a year in The Lyric Theater in downtown Blacksburg. 

"Way I Am" was recently selected to the Voices Only 2012 Compilation CD, and "Touch the Sky" was placed on BOCA 2008 (Best of College A Cappella). In addition, Juxtaposition has received three CARA (Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards) awards in the category of Best Male Collegiate Album (Anamoly), Best Male Collegiate Song (Touch the Sky) and Best Male Collegiate Arrangement (Blurry). We are extremely thankful for these nominations and recognitions.

The Pennharmonics are Penn State University's premier co-ed a cappella group. The Penns, as their fans call them, have been revolutionizing the a cappella community since 1993. They have competed in the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella several times, recently placing first in their Mid-Atlantic Quarterfinal, first in the Semifinal, attending the International Finals in New York City, and winning such special awards as Best Vocal Percussion, Best Choreography, and Best Arrangement numerous times along the way. They have released several albums over the course of the years, most recently "Black Cloud Silver Lining" which was released in March of 2014.  This album awarded the group a spot on the compilation album BOCA 2015: Best of College A Cappella and a 2015 Contemporary A Cappella Recording Award (CARA).
