In the beginning, there was only darkness---there was blackness. From this blackness sprung forth an atom. That atom realized itself and became. It became and shaped itself into this universe, this world, and into our being. 

This Spirit Jazz mix highlights the mystery, the intrigue, the insurmountable strength and power, the abundance, the nurturance, the everlasting beauty that has sprung forth from that darkness and is encapsulated in nature as well as within Black people. Blackness: it is this unknown, receptive energy that absorbs and has the power to destroy, transform, and create something new. This energy, seen as threatening, unholy, a mystery, feared for it has been misunderstood, is the means for creation. For the blackest soil holds the richness nutrients and from darkness births light.
