In between all the elements Science has already charted and discovered, there are still many we have not yet identified. Nature, and the universe for that matter, still hides many concepts that we have not yet visited or studied, and there exist combinations of those concepts and elements that we haven’t yet explored. In a sense, this work is an ode to that unknown, a fusion of elements from different time periods and places, but that live chemically bound by musical space and time because of the foundations they share, and when put together, create uncharted elements.

 the power of collaboration is on full display in this superb set of songs by Portuguese artists Pedro Martins and Tempura the Purple Boy. Each track holds a unique space which then swerves and unfolds in so many surprising and pleasing ways. Calling on influences and reveries of many tastes and times, from dark and gritty downtempo to early 90’s atmospheric jungle. One can sense the symbiosis that was present in the studio. Pedro’s experience as a producer, studio engineer, DJ and manager of Karakter Records and Tempura’s musical and compositional background was a strong and organic mesh, with Tempura laying down grooves and melodies and Pedro building on aesthetics and overall sound. 

In the end, every new piece of art is laid on top of a foundation of influences. Yet this record shines unique, in it’s masterful fusion of those origins. 

Re-envisioned by 3 artists of massive talent and promise, the remixes fully live up to the quality found in the originals. All of these artists making their debuts on Random Collective. Nada with his dark, atmospheric and extremely compelling remix of Hall of Mirrors. Daniel Hokum concocted a bouncy cut of the same original that is both stripped down and twisted up. Finally, Katabtu caps the EP with an incredibly dreamy and sway inducing rendition of Seismic Activity which he clearly put his soul into, along with a riveting vocal part.

Smash Bang label manager and pioneer of Australian downtempo house music is back. After his recent album release 'Solitary Collusions' The Oddness brings you remixes of 'You Don't Know' featuring vocals from Melbourne based pocket rocket and ultra-talented Lil Magdelena. 

Firstly on remix duties, Smash Bang are over the moon to have internationally renowned Kermesse from Argentina, who have had a huge impact on the downtempo and world house scene over the last few years. Kermesse's infectiously funky and colourful take on 'You Don't Know' smells of witty bumpy synth work and a fun time steeze with crafty vocal layering. Secondly on remix duties, the label welcomes Jake Jurant the Sydney based producer with a background in chillhop and lo-fi flavourings, his warm broken backfoot bop of 'You Don't Know' takes the track in a completely different direction with warm hip hop tones. Rounding out this premiere package the Oddness has added an instrumentally driven, uber funk'n re-do.

Indygo is an organic chemical compound, a dark blue dye that occurs naturally as well as chemically synthesized (since 1897). Over the years, he has evolved considerably - taking human form, acquiring artificial intelligence and an artistic soul.  "Ketathonica" is the story of his earthly journey, during which he learned what goodness, love and desire are, while exploring the darker corners of spiritual existence.

In the course of his journey he met amazing artists such as Da Iguana, Juliano Gomez, Kapchiz, AlphaR, Shit Face, Barbarella and each of them decided to write their own original chapter in this musical story.  This combination yielded a mix of organic sounds and deep, acid basses giving the whole a psychedelic context that at times is capable of amusing as well as plunging one into a metaphysical trance.

We are delighted to present you the 1st musical creation of Kaöb &Wākhan Project, an event to celebrate!

The friendship and fusion of their two universes made it possible to create the O'Tawa collective and this musical project is not only the fruit of their work and passion, but also of the magic of synchronicities.

Sacred Native was born from the common desire to celebrate indigenous peoples around the world.
Inspired by sacred Native American songs, flutes of the indigenous people of the Cherokee, percussion and an ancient ritual musical instrument: The Bullroarer.

Historically used to communicate over great distances, dating back to 18,000 BC. JC, discovered in Ukraine and used this time in Canada.

In ancient Greece it was a sacred instrument used in the Dionysian Mysteries and is still used in rituals worldwide.

It was a prominent musical technology among the Australian Aboriginal people, used in ceremonies and to communicate with different people groups across the continent.

Many different cultures believe that the sounds they make ward-off evil influences.

Sometimes we forget to count and have to remember ourselves how many compilations we have released in the last 3 years. We can't believe it, but we're super proud to be able to present down.tape 7 to you. Yes, you read that right, number 7.

As always, we invited our current favorite artists to be there. Of course, this does not include those who have already been part of an earlier compilation. It's really nice to see how fast the scene is growing and new interesting musicians are entering the stage. Without them it would not be possible to create such beautiful and varied releases.

This time we're going into a diverse direction, hoping the dancefloors will glow. You can expect 17 tracks, all of which were produced with a lot of passion and heart. We have a feeling this could be our favorite down.tape to date. A big thank you goes out to the various artists, our artwork master Kilian Van De Water and to Haunted Water for the great mastering. Our Swiss buddy Planet Caravan contributes two very stable  original tracks, which Pulli & Chomba and Atric have made their own in a splendid way, in order to give the tracks, which are already very suitable for the dance floor, their own touches.

The title track of the EP called "Circuit Bending" is characterized by a dreamy and bouncy sound that fits perfectly into our loot scheme of the last years.

The second title of the EP "A Glitch" convinces with snotty vocals and a dark groove, which you will hear more often on our label in the future.

As always, we would like to thank all artists involved for the great cooperation and refer to the first-class mastering of Haunted Water, as well as the brilliant artwork by Kilian Van de Water.
