Hip hop and R&B unabashedly looked to their funk, soul, and disco predecessors for hit-making inspiration. House music, being every bit as sample-happy, has found endless opportunities for reappropriation there and elsewhere.  This mix was recorded live in July 2013 and features multiple voices from the golden age of R&B and hip hop, with input from Faith Evans, 2Pac, Brandy, Aaliyah, and more.
