When the demo of ‘Scorpio Rising’ landed in our office, we knew immediately: this has to be released in the summer! A hook is a hook is a hook. And what Lannakise sang into the mic for LOPEZHOUSE is definitely a big hook with barbs that sticks in your head. A pristine pop house masterpiece from the La Mancha native. Our homie Jonathan Kaspar takes care of primetime in his usual skilful and efficient manner. With its 10th edition, Dalmata Daniel’s split series brings together two artists who have both left their mark on the label’s compilations, now presenting their first full releases on the imprint. Anatolian Weapons and The Spy approach electronic music from different angles, one rooted in hypnotic techno rituals, the other in raw electro and post-punk energy. Both craft sounds that thrive in the shadows of the dancefloor. On the A-side, Anatolian Weapons delivers three cold, hypnotic cuts. "Trapped" opens with heavy EBM percussion and a buzzkill bassline, setting a tense, mechanical tone. "Further Spiralling Down" sinks deeper into darkness with a grinding low end, tight drums, and electro-tinged claps, forming the side’s relentless highlight. "Apathy Through Shock" closes with pounding, catatonic rhythms and a mournful, otherworldly melody, pushing the listener into disorienting depths. Flipping over, The Spy’s raw, electro-driven energy takes hold. "Same Blur" channels sharp electro beats with a punkish sneer and cosmic synth lines. "Falling", featuring The Spy’s own vocals, leans into melancholic new wave, pairing bouncy rhythms with bittersweet melodies. The closing "Pretending" drifts into the darkest corners, offering low-slung, haunted electro layered with distant, spectral harmonies.

Who killed JackWasFaster?

Was it the post‑pandemic skyrocketing BPMs and the slow death of soul in club music? The exhausting 90s revival — dredging up even its least glorious moments? Maybe it was the nightlife crowd: more “intense,” with Jäger‑tainted breath, white-powdered noses, and the same recycled small‑talk clichés. Or the current musical climate, obsessed with constant novelty over meaningful transformation. Perhaps it was the mainstreaming of tacky spectacle — DJs dressed as mermaids, horses, or bullfighters — a bargain‑basement sublimation of kitsch.

Or maybe it was suicide. A slow collapse brought on by the inability to find new ways to express oneself in this environment; the blur between conviction and inertia; the endless déjà‑vu; the weariness; the age. Like in Murder on the Orient Express, maybe everyone took a stab.

As we have always said at Sprechen, one of the best things about running a label is being able to work with people that have played a significant role in soundtracking your journey through music. It’s with this latest release that we can tick that box again and welcome Jon Pleased Wimmin to the label for a stomping collaboration with Bristol based self-confessed ‘House Music Fanatic’, Dave K.

Higher is the result of these 2 musical minds getting together in the studio and is a no holds barred, peak time pumper that thunders out of the traps and cranks the endorphin machine up to 11. A highly reputable artist with an equally impressive history as a producer, Rodriguez Jr is a prominent member of the Leena music catalogue. His debut on the imprint "Rubbo Swingo" received rave reviews as did his return a year later for Leena's 11th release, "Kids of Hula". 2010 has already witnessed big things from the Belgium based producer, such as "Jerri Call" with Alex Kid on NRK records as well as a handful of remixes including one for Dominik Eulberg on Traum records and Holger Zilske on Playhouse.
