Looking back at the very first mobilee ‚Too Hot’, and other hit releases such as ‚Diva’ and ‚Spirits’, as well as a collection of remixes on some of the most respected labels – he is given name in any serious house music collectors’ bag and now we have another wax to add!

‚Mr.Duke’ is nothing short of a Summer anthem....opening with a delicately constructed rhythm pattern that eventually makes way for beautiful synths that build and lift your hands in the air with them. 21-year-old Justin Jay announces his Momentum EP, due out on Monday, March 16th via Catz' 'N Dogz' Pets Recordings. Nine months since his last EP, Instincts, on dirtybird, this Los Angeles native delivers a soundtrack from his last semester at University of Southern California  to show just how much he has matured over the last months, both personally and musically. Challenging himself to always take things one step further, Justin Jay continues to grow as an artist with sophistication, and expand his knowledge as a producer/DJ.

Produced in his college bedroom, Justin Jay's Momentum EP begins with hat tip to Motown's Gladys Knight & The Pips with "How I Knew," a hypnotizing deep house number with evolving bass lines, on-point percussion, and recognizable vocal sample. "Momentum," his second collaboration with fellow dirtybird, Kill Frenzy, follows to showcase the pair's affinity for driving, warehouse-ready techno with subtle intricacies. Closing out the EP with his buzzed about Mixmag Lab set opener, "You Give Me Butterflies," leaves listeners with carefree vibe driven by a smooth and dreamy house groove, accented with layered, mood-elevating synth work.

How I Knew:
I don't have much to say about this one. I made it in my bedroom, and spent my fair share of late nights working on it pissing off my roommate who was trying to get rest for his midterms... (sorry Ulf!)

Momentum:
Producing "Momentum" with Kill Frenzy was a really cool learning experience for me. The idea for the song came together while Seb and I were kicking it on my living room couch playing weird sounds off of our lap top speakers, just having fun. When we sat down to properly produce the track, I kept on trying to add unnecessary ideas and overcomplicate the track. Sebastien helped me realize how simple an 8 minute song can be without getting boring - it's all in the details, although that's easier said than done. Finding the subtle changes that actually work was a long trial-and-error experience for me. It was ultimately super cool to hear how simple, yet satisfying the song was for us.
 
You Give Me Butterflies:
As I'm finishing up an incredible last year of college, and getting to do all of these amazing things in music, it's felt good making happy, lighthearted songs that really capture my mood these days. I've spent a large part of the last year exploring darker sounds and textures. I definitely want to continue experimenting in that direction, but I wouldn't want to neglect my goofy, cheerful side either. "You Give Me Butterflies" is a carefree day at the beach, spent with your friends, acting like 8 year-olds.

Kate Simko and Tevo Howard rejoin forces with a new single, ‘Bring It’, from their upcoming album on Sasha’s label Last Night On Earth. Native Chicagoans, Tevo and Kate grew up on house music, and their collaboration pays homage to their home city while exploring new ideas outside the limitations of genre boxes. The forthcoming album, ‘PolyRhythmic', is a masterfully crafted production from two of the current days most dedicated purveyors of Chicago house music. 

“Bring It was a track I made for Movement Festival in Detroit a few years back, and it has very Detroit-influenced chords.  It became a staple in my live set, and then Tevo added the 303 bass line and classic Roland drums to bring in an old school feeling.” – Kate Simko

Both Kate and Tevo’s heritage shines brightly through ‘Bring it’. Their equally passionate devotions to music started at young ages. Tevo, a bassist who started mixing records in the late eighties, coupled with Kate’s love of piano and house music, makes this a completely natural pairing.  ‘Bring it’ foreshadows the essence of ‘PolyRhythmic’, an album that fuses modern inspirations with the classic sounds of house music.

The vocal version of ‘Bring It’ was re-crafted last summer in New York at Butcha Sound Studios with vocalist Amunet Shah. Also enamored by house music, Shah created raw and authentic NYC-style vocals. Kate and Tevo’s new school American sound shines through on this standout production from the album, fusing together elements from Detroit, New York and Chicago house music. The addition of Tevo Howard’s Roland-303 baselines perfectly capture and elevate the classic sound of Chicago. A menacing yet melodic sound that highlights the ‘PolyRhythmic’ project perfectly, A classic sound with a contemporary twist.

We couldn’t resist to release this soulful boogie disco house joint GOLDEN GIRLS from Tigerskin & Jack Jenson featuring vocals from south african rising star Lazarusman.

The both producers about their session: „We were looking  for inspiration by listening to various bassline stems freshly recorded the week before. And we checked the secret studio archive which includes the recordings of almost 30 years of Tigerskins work. Looking for hidden treasures in hundreds of recordings we stumbled across a simple and unreleased drum arrangement.

Just for fun we added one of our basslines to it and recorded a bunch of melodies with some of the old Moogs. You know you're working on 'one of those songs' when each member delivers exactly the ingredient that the others were thinking of when working on their part. When Lazarusman sent the vocals and as we listened the first time to the demo version of what would become ‚Golden Girls' we both looked at each other and agreed that this might be our best work so far.“
