Italo-Albanian artist &LEZ has proven his mettle as a prolific producer, rendering top-notch tracks that fill various moments of a set. This time, the talented DJ/Producer teams up with South African vocalist Nomvula for a high-powered production on MoBlack Records. ‘Qondisa’ takes listeners through a deluge of emotions, building up tensely before unwinding, rapt in sonic flux. Invigorated by Nomvula’s vocals, MBR444 weaves effusive percussive elements, Afro rhythms and jolts of electronic inductions, emerging as a climactic number that tests lust and sets temperatures and adrenaline rising.

Mona Yim debuts on Rekids with ‘Gotta Do This, Gurl’, featuring remixes from Radio Slave.

Born and raised between Singapore and Germany and now based in Berlin, Mona Yim spent time bouncing between the clubs of London, Berlin, and Paris while honing her craft, culminating in a recent remix for DJ Seinfeld’s ‘Tell Me One More Time’ on Ninja Tune. Now readying her debut solo release on Rekids, Mona Yim delivers two dreamy house cuts for the imprint, backed with a pair of remixes from label-boss Radio Slave.

Leading the release, ‘Gotta Do This, Gurl’ brings crispy, bouncing drums alongside moody pads and subtle vocal chops, building up to an emotive breakdown. Radio Slave beefs up the drum patterns with breakbeats for his remix, adding additional atmospheric FX to existing melodic elements for a chunky, driving track. 

‘Dots Obsession’ sees floaty percussion, gentle synth work and vocals working in tandem to craft a soft yet evocative house jam. Injecting a pumping 4/4 pattern alongside elements of the original, Radio Slave’s interpretation brings the energy levels up with pitch-perfect dub FX and swirling synthesis.

@cacaoisdope return with the third volume in its "There's Always Cacao in Exotic Places Vol. 3" series. True to its name, the compilation continues to mine a sound that Cacao Records has become well known for, halfway between deep, tech and latin indebted rhythms.

Robbie Akbal opens up proceedings with "Jungle Hood", a roller for truly warped jungle party explorers. @sparrowandbarbossa follow up with "Chambacu", an early highlight where an accordion locks horn with an exquisite piano and indigenous vocals combo. Valencia's AFFKT delivers "Zanguango", a slightly demented number underpinned by a perfectly elastic bassline.

Lauhaus & Mario Franca showcase their reduced approach to groove on the minimal-minded "Baby Mas". New York's Saliva Commandos heads down a more classic route with "Soultrunk", a perfect melodic summer jam. Berlin's Tigerskin, a previous alumni of the series, drops the deepest cut, "Medicine", a dense and acid-laced atmospheric cut.

For the final stretch we find label boss K.E.E.N.E. and his contribution "Pion": deep techno with a distinctly central american flair. Closing the compilation is "Vitruvia" from Spanish producer Johan Mila, who coins another highlight with a wild bassline and a groove that will prove impossible to resist.
