Offering Recordings‘s upcoming ‘Gratitude (The Remixes)‘ is the first single release taken from  Marie Joly‘s eponymous album. ‘Gratitude‘ sees three exceptional musicians - Marie Joly and South African House icon Black Coffee and Rebbecca Murray  - working together and combine their musicianship to provide us with a beautifully piece of art.

The MYNY remix for ‘Gratitude‘ - already gaining heavy support from Rampa (Keinemusik) in his latest mix [https://soundcloud.com/keinemusik/keinemusik-radioshow-by-rampa-02122016] – has everything in store a tune needs to offer: a percusssive and rhythmical keytone subbed with vocal snippets before a piano smoothly comes in that is supported by slightly more ruff sounding synth-sounds and surrounded by Rebecca Murray‘s tender vocals. Again SOLIDE artist MYNY manages to leave an impression and a track that we surely will hear at BPM-Festival this year.

South African artist Lazarusman has become of mainstay in electronic music over the last decade, most often featuring as a guest vocalist on releases with the likes Booka Shade, Joris Voorn, Coyu, Stimming, Hyenah and many more. He has also made the Connected label a regular home, with a string of releases that have continued to push boundaries, most recently with his single ‘The Thing’ with Da Mike. Now he’s back, this time pairing up with fellow South African talent DJ Qness, a veteran of South Africa’s house scene who has released on the likes of Mo Black, Offering and Exploited. ‘Iba Mubi’ is about that moment a record takes a hold and contorts the face of the listener, as Lazarusman says “There is a strange phenomenon that happens when you hear a good song. You cringe your face as if you are experiencing some form of discomfort. This strange occurrence is the greatest compliment you can give a song, a DJ or a performer. When your body and your facial expressions reach peak absurdity. This song is about that moment when the base grips you and your face cringes and you become ugly, Iba Mubi.” The track is an understated and stripped back slice of house music with hypnotic melodic elements and hazy percussion providing the perfect soundbed for Lazarusman’s distinctive and poetic spoken word vocals. The original is complemented with a ‘club mix’ which sees things getting a little more percussive and direct with the subtle use of stirring synths.

Neil Amarey appears from the depths of Mozambique speaking the body language of House to lay
out the grounds of the game. Yielding a firm grasp of traditional African rhythms and the acumen to
candidly integrate past within the present, Amarey comes aboard MoBlack Records with label
veteran and Afro House luminary, Enoo Napa, to spew the 399th set of weapons for the label’s vast
arsenal. Fetching basslines, prolific soundscapes and an Afro-infused groove thrive on the trifle
between tension and release in Amarey’s Original Mix of Lose the Game, but the seductive and
gratifying nature of victory, as in any play, lures and here, euphonic melodic chords and impulsive
electronic swells are bait. On B side, Enoo Napa revels in the aftermath of the game, infatuated with
its motions and vulnerable at play. Weaving raw Afro elements with a bit of techno noir, the South
African DJ/Producer renders his signature Afro electronic touch to drift reverberated vocals and
syncopated harmonies through layers of synthesized soundwaves to the track’s elegant finish. ‘Lose
the Game’ is only but a thought in this EP, both sides might tug but at a war with no defeat.
