But it turns out the eclectic-minded musician has another life, as an architecture buff who recently moved to LA and now writes a blog about buildings here he loves. The blog is called, simply, Moby Los Angeles Architecture Blog, and features his photos of local architecture—from commonplace courtyard apartments to iconic houses by Frank Lloyd Wright—as well as his musings on the urban environment.  Frances Anderton talks to Moby about his love of architecture.

i first heard iamamiwhoami at a restaurant in london a few years ago.  after hearing them i emailed my manager, eric, and asked 'have you heard of this band iamamiwhoami?' and he wrote back, 'yes, we manage them'.  

when they asked me to do a remix for them i happily said 'yes', as i'm a fan of theirs.  and when i heard the song they wanted me to remix i realized that i didn't want to deconstruct it and change it, but rather just add melodic and structural elements to it, to enhance what they'd already done.

Moby on 'A Case For Shame':

“I had this idea to make a video for ‘A Case For Shame’ which actually ended up informing the entire visual scheme of Innocents. In the video, someone dies – maybe they killed themselves out of a sense of shame – and they enter this other world, populated by these ghost creatures wearing masks. They look scary, but they’re actually covering their face because they’re ashamed. When you see someone wearing a scary mask, the first thought is, “What’s going on? That’s intimidating.” But they’re actually hiding – it’s the most blatant act of concealing oneself. ‘A Case For Shame” is one of two songs I collaborated on with Cold Specks. She’s quite shy, and preferred to be left alone in the studio, so I’d hit ‘record,’ go have some tea, then come back in and press ‘stop.’”
