The 28th Chapter sees Djuma Soundsystem team up with Westerby for our latest story in sound: the cosmic afro tech of ‘Disambigua’.

Now based in Copenhagen, Norwegian artist Djuma Soundsystem was catapulted into the public's consciousness over a decade ago with his club classic 'Les Djinns' on Get Physical Music. His organic, sample-heavy signature sound is the perfect combination with fellow Copenhagen artist Westerby’s rougher, analogue synths and techy edges.

‘Disambigua’, their much-anticipated follow up to smash hit ‘Koma Kobache’ (Get Physical), is a standout cut which is already turning heads on dancefloors across Europe with its dark groove and killer vocal hook.

Rising star Jonathan Kaspar (Objektivity, Pets Recordings) is first up on the Editions, where he takes things deep. Built around the interplay of synth lines in call and response, his rework is a pure bass monster.

Meanwhile, label regular KatrinKa marks her latest release on Chapter 24 with an Edition that places the emphasis on a trademark infectious groove, paired with a spiritual melodic motif; a perfect balance of darkness and light.

The package is rounded out by Aaaron. The in-demand producer has worked with everyone from Defected and Get Physical to (more recently) Connected and Yoshitoshi. He focuses on deep, powerful drums in a version heavy on tension.

With this latest Chapter there can be no doubt: four different flavours of ‘Disambigua’ which together add up to a clear and coherent whole.

About the EP :
It was very important for us to go more in depth, to put our pop background to the side whilst keeping our signature sound. That was maybe the biggest challenge whilst producing “Musik 3”. We are very happy with the result” – Super Flu

Hailing from Halle/Saale Germany, Felix Thielemann and Mathias Schwarz have created unquestionably one of dance music’s most unique acts. Fusing together a spectrum of influences which covers everything from classic house to orchestral melodies, the duo continuously push and pull the boundaries that stand before them to suit their artistic vision. With 2017 fully in their crosshairs, Super Flu proudly announce their forthcoming album titled ‘Musik 3’. An exquisite listening experience like no other. 

With the remixes of „Musik 3“ they yet again demonstrate how beautiful the melting of different genres and characteristics can unfold, and their selection of artists is as varied as it is on point. Having revelled in the glory of its original and then marvelled at Solomun’s summer smash remix of ‚mygut‘, which also features here; it’s time for Super Flu to unveil ‚Musik 3+‘

On the quest for re-invention they invited artists and friends working in all sound spectres, ranging from artists that inspire them such as Suara’s label boss Coyu, head of Stil For Talent, Oliver Koletzki, Deetron and Mathias Kaden to their Monaberry family members Viktor Talking Machine, Cioz, Ole Biege and Tim Engelhardt.

Also you find magnificent and characteristic tracks from Sobek, Roy Rosenfeld and Guy Mantzur, Ninetoes and Daniel Stefanik, soundtracking new musical adventures.

Long-awaited Babiczstyle is back on the screen and its owner Mr Babicz opens his synaesthetic suitcase filled with musical impressions from his almost endless journeys throughout this planet. 

For the next upcoming releases on Babiczstyle you can expect a series of five consecutive EPs with one common subject of fabulous creatures. Each of them symbolises a special person or incident Robert got in touch with on his trips and of course as always, he turned it into music. 

Sound-wise, the central feature of these next releases will be the unique hybrid mixture of analog instruments processed in a digital way. 

As title piece of this first EP of a new Babiczstyle era, Soul Fire captivates with its euphorically saturated 303 line that definitely doesn’t have to hide behind the other instrumentalists of the electronic orchestra. And don’t worry, 303 fans: You will also find the sound of the famous sequencer in other Babiczstyle tracks, but sometimes a little more in disguise. 
Next, Falling Angels perfectly attaches to the powerful mood of Soul Fire: You can literally hear the heavenly creatures tumbling down from the Kingdom of God. 

The journey now gets a little smoother when Balance claims its title from its perfect interaction between polyrhythmic vibrant percussion and mallets as well as its basic meditative underlying sentiment. Following up perfectly, Dream Turtle draws the listener into its habitat creating a hypnotic vortex of emotions.  

Finally, Soul Ice rounds up the release, symbolising a fluffy creature in search for delicious soul food. If you listen closely, it’s impossible to deny the brotherhood with Soul Fire, reviving the frozen melody theme of the first track.

We wish you great pleasures with this release, clearly indicating the philosophy of Babiczstyle: an emotional journey throughout ambitious, high-quality sounds and endless spaces — and this one is just the beginning.

XYZ Selectors 008 - Two Years of XYZ

Born in Chile but now Buenos Aires based, Paula shot into the electronic music spotlight in 2016 with her vocal work on Jos & Eli’s ‘Walking On Water’. Released through long standing German imprint Einmusika, it set the course for what has been a remarkable two year stretch. Paula has since gone on to collaborate with some of progressive music’s most esteemed talents in Antrim and Kamilo Sanclemente. 2017 saw Sound Avenue label boss Madloch introduce Paula’s sublime vocals into his well received Magician On Duty single ‘Deserts & Snow’. A friendship and mutual respect developed between the two artists, eventually leading to Paula’s first and much anticipated solo single in 2019 courtesy of Sound Avenue, alongside remixes from Powel and Adam Nathan.

Banoffee Pies Records 15th Original Series release comes from Cassius Select. Canadian born producer Lavurn Lee, now residing in his home city of Hong Kong, drops his latest solo EP “Heavyweight”. His unique style and selective output has drawn our attention for some time. This release does exactly what it says on the tin. With previous appearances on the likes of Matthew Herbert's Accidental JNR., Hypercolour and more, he has maintained a primary focus on rhythmic structures, alienated textures and eerie vocalisations that flaunt a strong influence and appreciation for UK techno, Hip Hop, Garage, and all things Broken Beat. 

The release kicks off with “Born To Defence”, a mood setter scattered with punchy drum rolls and wild toms that set the tone for a harmonic palette across the 4 tracks. The A2 “Honda Civic” displays a tougher edge using a hybrid of sound. Pulsing late night business - Hatchback style. “Sicko Groove” gets the B side off the ground with a chest rattling, Grime inspired club track, sliding further up the weight divisions before things close off with “Guia Circuit”, a more techy low end tool with notable energy shifts. BP015 sustains stripped back but relentless percussion throughout. “The Original Circuit Training Soundtrack”. Love BP x

Our friends at Sound Avenue have a monstrous week in progress, not only are they debuting their new 3rd Avenue label but their Crossfade Sounds imprint has a new release as well. Crossfade has been one of the premier labels for discovering up and coming talent. Their 'Crossing Borders' compilation showcased that incredibly well and this week the labels 11th overall release features an up and coming Argentinean producer that looks set to turn some heads this year. Eze Ramirez makes his debut on Crossfade Sounds with the 'Glaslower EP' which comes with three brand new original productions.

The title cut gets the EP underway with a deep throbbing groove that comes with a measurable amount of funk. Panning stabs, shakers and a set of rolling electronics form a dynamic groove straight away. Heavily processed vocal samples and a wispy hypnotic line carry the track through to the breakdown where a subtle shift in tension brings a nice climax. The cool groove returns for a strong finish which is going to be dynamite on the dance floor. The second composition on the EP 'Hypnotic Transition' begins with another low slung groove and some trailing vocal samples. The subterranean underbelly really stands out here; it's deep and spacious character creates some killer momentum. The complementary hypnotic lines only add to the great energy created by the bass line as well. An all round wicked dance floor groove that crosses genres really well. The EP is closed out with 'Reaction Control' which is certainly the biggest track of the three. A big driving bass line sits at the foundation while scattered electronics and a buzzing synth pushes the tune forward. The clattering drums space the energetic groove out really well and the sinister vocal elements sound deadly. Three very strong tracks here from Eze Ramirez who is virtually unknown at the present time but we suspect that he won't be for long. A great signing from Crossfade Sounds which shows these guys have a firm hold on the underground. Highly Recommended.
