The French electronic scene is bursting with new talent and dissolving boundaries, acting as a giant melting pot of influences from all different genres. In this spirit, Virtual Forest Records is hosting a new 12-track compilation to showcase the mesmerizing dark side of this creative movement.

No Digging After Midnight condenses elements from deep techno, downtempo, UK bass, or even halftime into a unified whole. A foray into deep and uncharted waters, for a glimpse at the future of dance music.

Earworm presents it’s first ever music released via the platform “Malmö Multum" -  a collaboration with and fundraiser for Bolero Recordstore in the form of a VA.

The compilation features tracks from some of Malmö's best and brightest in the scene. Each producer flexes their flavour and does what they do best which has resulted in an eclectic album moving through different styles. Purely by coincidence, within the variety there exists a cohesive flow in the body of work, as if the tracks were meant to belong together. The city inspires everyone in different ways, yet there exists a crossover with a mechanism to link those inspirations.

In light of the recent motion to close the beloved local Bolero Recordstore, this fundraiser acts as a celebration of what the store has done for the underground community and as a statement of desire for the collaborative vision to continue in new ways.

All money raised from this VA will be donated to Bolero with the intention to make future events and projects in the city even more possible.

It’s been a hot moment, so we can’t wait to finally announce the next EP on our Awkwardly label, “a hack is a foul“ by dadan karambolo.

Safe to say he’s been on our radar for a while, so we’re mighty excited to welcome the Wrocław-based producer on AWK005. After a strong debut release on his co-owned SPLOT imprint, an equally solid LP on Regime Brigade as well as contributions to various compilations, dadan is back with his signature moody, bass-bin shaking sound.

Hitting the sweet spot somewhere between dubstep, grime, breaks and ambient techno, these 4 tracks provide a somber yet seductive quality that invite the listener to get lost in a hazy amalgamation of stylistic elements. Rest assured, this combination of low end and rhythm heavy explorations contains the right formula to cause some damage on the dance floor.

AWK005 is set for release on Friday, October 20th 2023. As always, many thanks and much love for everyone’s support and feedback!
