We are a band from New York City who is always writing new music, mostly in tiny rooms with traffic light views. Our intention is to bring these sounds to a much bigger space, preferably a stage, with lights, where the living really happens. Ya.. the live show is where it can get weird; never normal. Who needs normal? Isn't that what we're all trying to escape?

If extroversion had a musical embodiment, it would be in the sounds and rhythms of Brooklyn newcomers LEGS. Blending modern indie pop with Stax-worthy hooks, they are a mobile cauldron of everything retro and cosmopolitan.

LEGS was formed in 2013 by Seattle-based Tito Ramsey, his brother Jack, their childhood friend Charles Larson, and Ecuadorian brothers Juan Miguel and Herman Marin.

Asthmatic Kitty Records is an independent record label that was co-founded by Lowell Brams and his stepson, singer-songwriter Sufjan Stevens, in 1999. Since its founding, AKR has released albums by a variety of artists, including Lily & Madeleine, My Brightest Diamond and Helado Negro, and is currently home to Sufjan Stevens, Angelo De Augustine, Denison Witmer and The Welcome Wagon. 

Asthmatic Kitty was named after Sara, an orange and white tabby who wandered out of the woods pregnant and starving near Holland, Michigan in 1994. For fourteen years she brought joy as a beloved friend to Lowell, enjoying a happy life despite her initial hardships. Her asthma improved after moving west to New Mexico and Wyoming, where she lived out her days as an asthmatic kitty in name only.

 Modern Merchant is the musical project of John Parson (vocals/guitar), Jesse Stanford (vocals/guitar), and Sydney Weiss (vocals/drums). Parson and Weiss established the band after meeting in Brooklyn, later bringing on Stanford, whose friendship with Parson can be traced back to rural Connecticut. Both now contribute as songwriters and their unique and powerful partnership is in many ways the guts of Modern Merchant. Weiss is very much the brains; her percussive style pulls from the influences of jazz, rock, funk, and the avant garde. 

Together they create a songs that are equal parts anthemic, dreamy, and layered - embracing elements of indie rock, psychedelia, dream pop, and electro. Their 4 song EP, Virtues, will be released on August 28.
