I learned horn arranging back in 1969, back when Chicago, Blood Sweat and Tears, and the great horn R&B Horn bands in my home state of Louisiana needed arrangements.  I took the parts off of the original recordings.  I studied big band arranging at the Downbeat Jazz camp, and later at the University of North Texas, along with classical orchestration.  I play tenor, alto and soprano sax, piano, bass, flute and guitar.  Growing up near New Orleans, the horn sections were the hottest thing around.   I've arranged the horns for Tower of Power, and many great recording sessions over the years.  
When budget doesn't allow for a whole section, I sometimes play live saxes, and augment the brass some great sample libraries, from Eastwest, Kontakt, and others.   Thanks for checking out my playlist.

This was a backing track I did for a client, of the hit smooth jazz CD from Dave Koz and Cory Wong,  The original track had 2 trumpets, Trompone, Tenor and Alto Sax, plus Dave Koz Playing the lead, on Soprano and Alto Sax.  I'm performing all of the parts, live, guitar, keyboards, drum programming, plus 4 live alto and tenor sax, plus a sampled bari from Native Instruments Kontakt.  I'm also using a bit of #hollywoodpopbrass for the hits and falls.

I wrote this with Chris Caswell back around 2003, and finally released it on my 2019 CD, Tweakin some Twang, I was going for the Americana thang, but this one really shows off my Louisiana Roots, where you can hear my Dr. John Influence, I was going for a more juke joint 2 step groove on this.  I did all of the keys, vocals, horns,  Mick Mestek from tower of Power on Drums, also Jeff Tamelier, on guitar, from Tower of Power.
