Forgotten

If I had to choose two or three of my compositions out of all of them, this would be one of them.

Like every composition, this one has a story...or rather two.

The first tells how it was done.

The advantage of making music with an iPad is that you can take your "studio and instruments" anywhere. Thanks to that, I started composing it in France, a country that, as many know, I visit frequently for family reasons.

The main instrument that defines the melody is a bell-type synthesizer and was taken from the defunct Alchemy.

It was 2015 and I was still not able to equalize properly (And I think today, although I have improved, neither).

So in 2019 I decided to improve it, but I discovered that I had accidentally deleted the master.

I didn't know very well what to do and finally decided to recompose it from the beginning, but looking for the most similar sounds on another synthesizer (kv331).

The second story has to do with what I want to convey.

Where I live there is a nursing home. I see the families who come to see the people there.

I remember my grandfather, with whom he spent entire days and showed me all the books he read... I remember it as if it were yesterday (My other grandfather died when I was very young). What I learned most from him was respect and discovering the wonderful stories behind them from which you can learn authentic life lessons.

This composition is for these people who suffer and do not have the love and respect they deserve.

Today I also dedicate it to all these wonderful musicians of a certain age who are in this community and to anyone who suffers for any reason and believes that no one remembers them.

Forgotten (2023)

Played on a Tom Doerr (RIP) Legacy- LS Redwood/Cocobolo. 
This little tune gradually grew on me over some time period ahead of the final recording including little changes on the evening it was recorded. Sometimes that's the way things work!!
 Played in CGCGCD tuning capo #1. 
The melody seemed to convey to me a hopeful, thoughtful day ahead where good things might happen! 
The picture is of my son in law looking out over the harbor on a fabulous summer evening sunset!

Here I use the Intimate Grand Piano from Spitfire Audio. The track was recorded in one session, not quantized or edited. I usually sit down at the piano (keyboard) and play while the recording is running. Sometimes I forget the melody from three minutes ago while I'm playing, but then it comes back to me. That's how most of my songs are created.

Modes About Me is a genre-defying trio from Niagara Falls, New York, known for blending alternative rock, pop, hip hop, and acoustic elements into a cohesive, emotionally charged sound.

The project began as a solo creative outlet for Mark, who started writing and producing music that didn’t fit neatly into one category. What started as a personal side project soon grew into something bigger when he recruited his childhood friends, Dave and Miller, both long-time musicians who shared his passion for experimentation and emotional honesty.

Together, the trio shaped a sound that thrives on contrast — heavy yet melodic, structured yet fluid, vulnerable yet powerful. Their music draws inspiration from the energy of Niagara Falls and the emotions of modern life, exploring themes of self-discovery, mental health, love, and resilience.

Modes About Me’s songs shift naturally between genres — from guitar-driven rock and soulful acoustic moments to rhythm-infused hip hop textures — while always staying true to their core identity.
