The source of this 56 minute excerpt is the recording of my last extended dj set. It was performed on June 23 2023 at Badaboum in Paris. 

The show at Badaboum marked the end of a long series of all-night long sets which I have been performing over many years. As I have focused all my attention on playing live I consider this event and its recording as the last statement in my dj life. A closing chapter, so to speak.

As this set was my last extended dj set it features a mix of new material and personal favourites which I have enjoyed playing over the past years. This set was a long, intense ride into my music collection. I was fortunate enough to have a supportive crowd which was up for joining me for seven hours straight. It was a fitting way to close off a big part of my musical life. I would like to thank everyone who has come out to hear me dj in the last twenty years or more - your presence and support remains essential. In the future I hope to see you at one of my upcoming live shows. The journey of expression continues, taking a different shape, searching for new forms.

This mixtape was created from a female DJ called Sai, located in Berlin,
Germany. In her sets she mixes dub, dubtechno, dark drone  restrained
ambient non beat in a kind of emotional expressing wa. This mix what was
created especially for DEEP MVMT Posdcast Series is one of the more
melodic selections from her and represents her wide range of styles what
follows the mentality of diversity and open mindness in its pure form.

Sai is a music nerd since her teens, influenced by many gengres such as
postpunk, dark wave through ska, jungle, dnb and techno.
Dancehall and the Jamaican Sound System Culture had also a big influence
on her (after visiting Jamaica twice at the end of the 90s) especially
the ruff and heavy basslines of dub and raggamuffin had a big imprint on
her.

She moved to Berlin in 2001 and came into contact with the rhythm&sound
vibe that immediately resonated with her.
It was still the time of small and illegal clubs and improvised venues.
In that scene, she had the opportunity to try herself as a DJ for a
certain time. But it never worked out on a larger scale and after she
became a mother in 2005 she gave up her music acticities with a heavy
heart and thought, that's it for now.

But then during the pandemic time in 2021 she restarted mixing music
again as a bedroom DJ and published her installements on SoundCloud,
what was the beginning for a new developement, supported quickly through
the attention she recieved from many independant dubtechno artists.
From then until now she shows her way of mixing on many online podcast
series such as Dubtechno TV, Dubwaves on Proton by Na:tek, Dubbism by
Piranha Siberia Dub and many more and publishes her selection regularly
on Soundcloud under the name "Moments Of Light 'n Darkness" (MLD).
Recently she started hosting guest mixes from other DJs there as well.

"I love creating deep atmospheric mixes around dub techno, combining the
classics from earlier days with the current releases, often seasoned
with the dub reggae vibes, some broken beats, ambient non beat or other
experimental electronic stuff - sometimes darker, sometimes lighter.  At
the end it's all about moods and feelings from moment to moment what
flows into the present time."

Aaaah finally.

In a period where I was dangerously close to losing all interest in the techno scene. When I really start questioning why and for what reason I have been doing this. Amongst all the self-indulgence, commercially obsessed promoters, "exclusive" clubs and elitist underground nonsense attitudes, I didn't expect looking at secondnature's website to change my mood so much.

Modest, genuine and above all represents, to me at least, the fundamental reason behind this type of music. A real interest to just get the music to the people. Josef Gaard was my route to discovering secondnature and his mix was equally open and full of interest. Easily my favourite of the podcasts I have released in recent times and did enough to knock me back on track, with some really inventive tracks full of depths and character. I seriously recommend checking this and the whole of secondnature out.

Top stuff.
