Reconstruir das Ruínas (rebuild from the ruins) is a compilation created by 25 musicians from the Lisbon underground electronic scene, including Xinobi, Vil, Dan Ghenacia, Kaspar, and many more. They are kindly donating their tracks with all proceeds being donated to União Audiovisual (uniaoaudiovisual.pt) - an association working on providing support and essential goods to artists and audiovisual professionals affected by the pandemic. 

Music has the power of bringing people together and here, it plays a major role in rebuilding our future from the rubble left behind by this pandemic. We were blessed to be free to party before and we shouldn’t let the sense of nostalgia translate into despair; we should use it as a positive driving force pushing us to look forward: nothing will be the same but, if we work together, it can only get better. 

The release is proudly produced by the Ruínas collective.

(MAM040) Liquor Store Wisemen - Live at Greenhouse in Lisbon, Portugal (August 24th, 2024)

The follow-up collection from Modmotif is both bold and inspirational, displaying a distinctive look of downtempo style and personality. “A Time to Remember” showcases three original pieces designed by @Ansidis. The self-titled first track is a collaboration with @neo-trad, and grows organically out of a lusciously textured atmosphere accented with whimsically flared vocals. Its woven soundscapes juxtaposed with the embroidered bassline results in something very special. The second ensemble “Inside the Elephant Garden” is dominated by the dark hues of textured bass and soft, muted pads, paired with a colorful patchwork of sound design and phonetics. This garment is perfect for those late night theatrics on the dance floor or runway. The third piece of the collection, “Morning Miles,” introduces Ansidis’s softer side with sheer synths detailed by beaded percussion and flashes of sharply cut vocals. Together the three pieces form a statement highlighting the detailed craftsmanship and versatility representative of Modmotif’s aesthetic identity.

Artful remixes by @Bertrand P, @Shane Walker, and @Odi Diaz follow on the auditory runway. Bertrand P unfolds “A Time to Remember” into a striking tech noir garb with leather straps of low end, opposite elegantly adorned pads, slinky synths and patterned percussives. Shane Walker brings his mature, hyper-sensual flavor to “A Time to Remember,” displaying rocker- chic bass and vigorous sound design suggestive of fetish attire perfect for festivals or packed out club nights. Odi Diaz masterfully designs “Inside the Elephant Garden” into a true tech house representation displaying functional, patterned grooves accessorized with glittering hi-hats and animal prints.

This second installment from Modmotif proves to be a blossoming for the label with a diversified palette of downtempo, techno, and tech house, a perfect ensemble for anyone’s musical closet.

A3 - Ansidis - Morning Miles

Present Company Vol. 1 is as diverse as its international artists. With contributions from Paris, Lisbon, LA, Tampa and New York, the styles featured on this EP are mesmerizing, aggressive and elegant.

Ansidis sets the tone for the EP with the powerful statement piece “Love In and Out of Lisbon.” The rich kick and luxurious bassline frame the lush soundscapes. The organic vocal samples hypnotize while providing sensibility you can embrace throughout the journey.

Brian Busto’s “Urgency is Now” is tech house gold. The silky melody and tight percussion are contrasted by the bold, deep bass. The arrangement is what gives this piece its identity and it should be admired. This track is daringly progressive and sure to stand out in any set.

Remove Hyphen delivers with a provocative number. “School-House Spandex” is minimal techno at its finest--simplicity gives this track its distinct character. The draped bass is accessorized with straight high-hats and a remarkable off-beat pad.

Ansidis & neo-trad bring a refreshing, exotic look to the electronic genre with “Moonrise Inside.” The echoing synth is the ethereal backdrop to the intricately refined percussion, with the pad and sound design providing the piece its dreamy elegance.

Nicolaon gives us “Synchotron,” a stylish techno piece that creates a heavenly atmosphere. The floaty drone is pinned to gleaming hi-hats and a memorable bass line. Sound design characterizes this tune and delivers an out-of-this-world experience.

Floxyd’s “Resonance” is tech house chic. The unforgettable bassline and embellished synths sprinkled throughout create an undeniable groove. The snappy clap and percussion only enhance the sustainability of this track. This piece is dance floor ready.
