Originally gaining DJ fame for playing standout techno sets on four vinyl turntables, many do not realise Cristian Varela is also a successful composer scoring soundtracks for film, theatre and television. He has even recorded a symphonic album at the legendary Abbey Road Studios in London.

Techno is always evolving and like the genre, Cristian has moved with the times. In 2018 he plans to relaunch his "Black Codes Experiments" project, which originally started in 2003 is a return to his roots with a series of gigs and vinyl only releases featuring artists such as Regis, Mark Broom, Shufflemaster, Tensal, Abstract Division, Exium and Arnaud Le Texier, amongst others.

When talking about Cristian Varela's roots, longstanding fans of the Techno genre will need little introduction for his seminal remixes of artists such as Ben Sims and Speedy J, and although he has spent many years leaving in London, he has never forgotten his humble roots. Often returning to Spain to give guest talks at many of the country's leading music schools and colleges.

More than just a remix artist, Cristian Varela has released numerous solo EP's on labels ranging from Carl Cox's Intec to his own Pornographic Recordings, and although the relaunch of his Black Codes Experiments imprint will draw some of attention from Pornographic Recordings, it will not stop the label from continuing to feature new music from the likes of The Advent, Ken Ishii, Gary Beck, Marco Bailey, UMEK, and many more.
Also planned for 2018 will be the premiere of a special documentary film celebrating Cristian Varela's 25 year career in music, which features testimonials and commentary from friends and colleagues including Carl Cox, Chris Liebing and Joseph Capriati, plus numerous others who have been instrumental in his career.

With a gig schedule that takes him all over the world, for those who are patient, you should be able to catch Cristian in your home city or country. For those who need a more regular dose of his music selections, you can catch his weekly radio show that's syndicated in Europe, USA, South America and Asia via more than 100 specialised techno stations in more than 50 countries.

Taking into account all of the above, it comes as no surprise Cristian Varela has won more than 40 awards including "Best Worldwide Techno DJ" at the DJ Awards in 2007 and again in 2013.

Pooja B (she/her) is an Indian artist who is now based in Berlin. Her sound was heavily influenced by the music she heard here when she first visited the city back in 2016. Her idea of techno is a skittish exploration of time and space in this Dystopian world. While futuristic, loopy, industrial sounds for dark clubs are her signature style, she can skillfully adapt to play music for outdoor spaces which still have a sprinkling of her special flavor.

She has been a resident at Analog Room a weekly underground party with a cult following in Dubai, where she was based because of her flight-attendant job. She also held residencies at Warped & Electric Days prior to this, also in Dubai.

Pooja B releases her music under the alias “ikigai”. Ikigai is a Japanese concept that means "a reason for being". Her reason for being is to make people dance :) She also takes a firm stand against racism, sexism & environmental issues, which she expresses via her music.

Vinyl Only DJ Set, Live Recording from Phygital Audiovisual Event 
14 July 2024 at Castle of Rio, Patra
As part of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture’s 2024 program “All of Greece, One Culture”, Modular Expansion organized “Phygital”, an immersive event showcasing live audiovisual performances. These performances blended digital and physical-analog musical instruments, complemented by digital projection. The event took place at Rio Castle in collaboration with the Greek National Opera and the Archaeological Service.
The Phygital event is structured into three distinct live music performances of contemporary electronic music artists George Apergis and Alex Retsis, alongside simultaneous digital artwork projections by the artistic group DEN. This includes visual haikus, a collage of brief micro-compositions combining instrumental and synthetic forms, connected by a deconstructive and unpredictable storytelling.
In the first hour, the audience had the experience of a digital live music performance by Qebo (Alex Retsis), featuring a blend of electroacoustic and ambient music inspired by the architecture of the castle. The second hour highlights the EMEX project by George Apergis and Alex Retsis, blending physical-analog instruments with digital technology to offer a dynamic interplay between digital and analog sounds. The final hour was dedicated to an analog live performance where George Apergis will exclusively use vinyl records. With the financial support and under the auspices of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture.

Ruff, es un dj y productor madrileño adicto a la fusión de ritmos, componente del colectivo T.N.G.S. 

Tras 10 años de trabajo y dedicación en el mundo de la producción musical y el arte de la mezcla. Se ha estrenado este año con su primer Ep en solitario en Exitus Records,sello en el que también ha participado con un track en un V.A. que ha salido en formato vinilo y en Rkdistrict otro Ep en conjunto con Jhonass.

También ha trabajado en salas como Fabrik, Siroco,Saw Room y en The Finka Club.

Ruff is a DJ and producer from Madrid with a passion for blending rhythms. He is a member of the T.N.G.S collective.

After 10 years of work and dedication in the world of music production and the art of mixing. This year, he made his solo debut with his first EP on Exitus Records, a label where he also contributed a track to a vinyl-released V.A. compilation. Additionally, he released a collaborative EP with Jhonass on Rkdistrict.

Techno producer from Melbourne, Australia. Owner of label Denude.

Since 2013 he has appeared on labels such as KMS, Intacto, Parabel, Flash and Dynamic Reflection. Tirelessly spreading his vision of electronic music both locally and abroad, Eddie has toured his sound from local festivals and club nights such as Sydney Mardi Gras, Rainbow Serpent and Strawberry Fields, through to Berlin’s Tresor club and Amsterdam Dance Event. In 2021 Eddie released his EP ‘Dormancy’ on German label ODD/EVEN, which was heavily supported by key tastemaker DJs. In the same year he launched his own label Denude - a platform for his own works and to support other likeminded local and international artists to push Australian electronic music globally. Late 2022 will see the release of Eddie’s debut album Far Beyond on his label, which traverses the boundaries of techno - a unique textural palette of Detroit, dub, ambient and breakbeat influences.

Influenced by trance and psychedelic sound, Zitto began his musical career in 2014. Levan Tsertsvadze, also known as Zitto, is a Georgian DJ and Resident at the infamous club Bassiani, in Tbilisi. Zitto's sets are mainly concentrated on hypnotic and atmospheric sounds. Its main aspect is to see the spatial and context correctly, which helps him to have a relationship with the listener. Zitto 's approach is clearly demonstrated in his style of playing, which has become one of the most progressive DJs in recent months and has won the DJ's DJ on the award ceremony. He also already played for Boiler Room in Georgia two times alongside Vril, Fjaak, Polar Inertia, Zesknel, HVL and Rødhad.

George Apergis is an established techno DJ, with a career of more than 20 years. He is also known as  EMEX and he is the founder of Modular Expansion records & Εvents. George Apergis has releases and remixes in labels such us Made of Concrete, Bellboy, LCR, Paranoid Dancer, Omega Audio and many more. His releases “Quelle” - “Ekhowax” and “Waxtrax:“on Modular Expansion were highly successful and they have been supported from worldwide artists. In 2020 released “The Abduction of Europa EP” together with his long time friend Alexander Kowalski on Made of Concrete. His music has been remixed by international artists like Truncate, Zadig, Dave Tarrida, Johannes Volk, NX1, Lee Holman, to name but a few. 
EMEX aka George Apergis plays dj-sets only with vinyls and has performed already alongside artists such as The Advent, Drumcell, Monoloc, Truncate, Terence Fixmer, Ø [Phase], Shifted, Answer Code Request, Subjected, Brian Sanhaji, Distant Echoes, Psyk, Kevin De Vries, Ness and many more. He has performed in many clubs in Europe, such as the legendary Berghain, Sisyphos, Suicide Circus and Tresor in Berlin, Werkhaus in London, Moog and Macarena in Barcelona, Rashõmon and Städlin in Rome, clubs in Warsaw, Moscow and the most prestigious clubs & festivals in Greece.
In 2014 George Apergis creates EMEX; an emergent techno project which his signatures sound is an eminent mix of hard techno beats, minimal acid synth-lines and dub chords. EMEX has releases on Modular Expansion, Etruria Beat, Syxt, Denude, Credo, Demarcation and Konsequent. EMEX has released five vinyls on Modular Expansion. In 2015 released its debut vinyl powered by KORG, which entitled "00110001" and won the Silver Award at European Design Awards. Follow the releases of "Z80A", "Hyperion", "Zex" and "Mimas" on Modular Expansion. In 2019 did a bomb remix on Bastian Balders - Jukka on Konsequent records. . 
EMEX music has been remixed by artists like Alexander Kowalski, Brian Sanhaji, Subjected, Radial, SLV, Progression and Developer. Modular Expansion was founded by George Apergis and has run successfully, since 1998. The name “Modular Expansion” is inspired from the first analog modular synthesizers of which different parts were connected between each-other, forming an expansion.Modular Expansion is a cultural body of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and has to its credit actions with the auspices and financial support of the Ministry of Culture and the Municipality of Athens. Actions such as vinyl releases, art videos and publishing events. He is also a European Design Award holder, Silver Award in 2016 in the category Music & Films Covers. Modular Expansion have events in a lot of European cities and famous places like Berghain, Tresor, Suicide, Sisyphos, Renate, Birgit in Berlin, also in cities like London, Rome, Barcelona, Sofia, Warsaw, Moscow, Tel Aviv and at the most prestigious places in Athens.

Modular Expansion is one of the first teams which started organizing Techno events in Athens in 1998. In the end of the 90s began to host artists from the labels such as Tresor, Basic Channel and Chain Reaction, presenting the Berlin underground music vibe and making techno popular in the Greek capital. Founder of Modular Expansion known as George Apergis performs already in 2002 at the legendary Tresor in Berlin.
