Klitkut is part of the "Gone Astray EP". Made up of music composed almost exclusively on the road, the ‘Gone Astray EP’ is driven by choices and ideas that would not normally have surfaced in a typical studio environment. It’s an innovative, ambitious project, not least because it tackles so many abstract themes in one sitting, often taking more than one mix to fully explore the hidden pathways that disappear off into this dense catacomb of sound.

Troy - Northbound EP

The mysterious Troy returns on DR with his second EP ever released. It seems like the perfect time for Troy’s Northbound EP; 4 very distinctive, cold, yet beautifully designed pieces, which perfectly underline the atmosphere this time of year. On the A side, detail and evolution are the foundation of the lengthy ‘BH3', which also futures a hard hitting remix by Takaaki Itoh from Japan.

The B side features two more melodic cuts. ‘Archer’ stresses the journey into the cold, with it’s synth work nearing dissonance, while remaining in complex and admirable harmony. The title track ‘Northbound’ is a more straight forward loop, which builds up to something rather chilly and unheard before.

The classy @Caduceus-Records puts together a new 4 track vinyl with some style. Enlisting @OliverDeutschmann for original material, along with @MarkusSuckut and @JeroenSearch on remix duty.

It was hard to pick a favourite from such a stunning collection, but Jeroen’s rework captured a real honesty and deceptively laid-back groove that has flashes of tension. The organic progression and subtle sample additions keep it moving with never a dull moment. A deep and hypnotic twist on the original, it emphasises certain elements and lights it up magnificently.

A truly bold sound explorer, Lucy has always added a skewed, angular version of modern techno. The outer edge of his experiments bare particular mind food, and his release for Horo adds a new slant to his sonic identity. 

Those intrigued by Lucy's live performance at Mutek 2015 or his monthly sound bath meditation sessions in Berlin, will find 'Eat, Drink, Shop, Relax' represents a combination of both these events. Recorded live to tape in Lucy's Berlin studio, the 4 tracks work together in a perfect continuum. The mood achieved is a warm, comforting bubble of hypnosis that feels at times like the machines have developed their own language and Lucy is their chosen conductor. 

The EP title finds its meaning in a critical perspective on consumerism, but while the world continues to move at a breakneck pace driven by people's acquisition of 'things', Lucy's experiments exude a notion of peace and contentment. Perhaps the underlying theme of 'Eat, Drink, Shop, Relax is a time and place where freedom from the clutches of consumerism can, and will be the norm. If this is the soundtrack to an idealistic future, it's an attractive place.

Gabriel Berlanga ara viu en algun punt entre Blanes i Cadaquès molt tocat per la tramuntana. Però això no sembla afectar-li: el seu segon LP, ‘Motas De Polvo’, segueix unes coordenades sonores semblants al primer, com si el temps només hagués passat per millorar el que hi havia. Però tot i que al camp s’està molt bé, la gresca s’acaba trobant a faltar i, apart de produir a l’Empordà i dirigir el segell Factor City a distància, Undo punxa, a Barcelona i a on calgui, per mostrar d’on li ve la inspiració per crear discos com el seu. Als seus sets pots esperar electrònica deutora del so clàssic de labels com Kompakt i Border Community, o de gent com Caribou o John Talabot, mestres en compaginar l’energia que mou la pista de ball, amb l’amor incondicional per la melodia que et sacseja els sentits. D’allò que se’n diu electrònica amb cor pop.

En sus sets puedes esperar electrónica deudora del sonido clásico de labels como Kompakt y Border Community, o de gente como Caribou o John Talabot, maestros en compaginar la energía que mueve la pista de baile, con el amor incondicional por la melodía que te sacude los sentidos. De lo que se dice electrónica con corazón pop.

Gabriel Berlanga currently lives somewhere between Blanes and Cadaqués on the Catalan coast where he’s hit hard by the north tramuntana wind, but it doesn’t seem to have had any adverse effects. His second LP, Motas De Polvo, picks up from where he left off with the first, as if time had passed simply to improve something that was already going on. But while the countryside is nice, Berlanga has been missing the bright lights, and besides producing in Empordà and directing the Factor City label from a distance, Undo DJ’s, in Barcelona and wherever necessary, to show us something of where the inspiration comes to create discs like his. In these sets you can expect electronica recalling the classic sounds of labels like Kompakt and Border Community and artists like Caribou and John Talabot, and a masterclass in how to combine the energy that gets a dance floor moving with an unconditional love for melodies that shakes up the senses; what you might call electronica with a pop heart.
