Since 2006 Dose has been releasing drum and bass internationally and with over 100 releases on both vinyl and digital, and including an LP, has cemented his name as one of NZ's finest solo dnb artists.
Being one of the few artist around the world who play sets of all original music - Dose continues to forge his name across the dnb circuit as a unique original artist standing by his own sound.

Kora - On My Mind

This track was inspired by older, 90's era D&B. Especially the intro, the chord sequence in the intro is a little throwback to those times. The title of the track came from the vocal sample which you can barely hear, save for the end of the track. "Adapt, Evolve, Become." It's sampled from a popular TV show, but I'll refrain from posting it's title for obvious reasons. The bassline was created using two instances of FM8, one duplicated but the waveforms were pitched up by octaves, or by fifths. Then it was resampled, so that when pitched up the LFO increased in speed. I wanted the intro to get across that it all builds up to that one sound, and the entire track is built around it.

Emperor - Mindgames

This track was created after going to see a friends Metal band. I started playing around with a few new plugins, but ended up with a 10 minute long recording of the session, from which I cut parts and then resampled, pitched, etc. I think this one was definitely inspired by tracks like Dust Up by Noisia & The Upbeats, and even myself and Mefjus' track, Void Main Void. The beat never actually changes and is just constant all the way through, not something I usually enjoy doing but it works extremely well in this case.

Over the last two Christmas' the team at Critical huddled together and decided that rather than let some sought after unreleased music sit idle on their hard drives they would put it to use and offer people the chance to download the tracks in return for donating something to charity. 
This year is no different and we at Critical have all gone through the vaults and put an album together, again for an important cause. We have chosen Oxfam's Refugee Crisis Appeal which is something close to all of our hearts.
Millions of people have been forced to flee their homes, to run for their lives and risk the safety of their families. Oxfam urgently need to help more people in Syria, Jordan, Lebanon and closer to home in Europe, too.

It hasn't taken long for Document One to define their own niche among the Technique Recordings roster. Brimming with multi-genre experience, this team has come well-equipped with a fresh and clean production style, overt musicality and uncompromising levels of funk. This release reasserts their commitment to the dancefloor while showing off yet more colours from their palette.

“Run the Block” takes the tough but smoky sound that Document One has made their own and adds a layer of East Coast hip-hop flavour. The rap-along vocal, that trademark upright and synthetic bass fusion, the popping drums and live-instrument arrangement combine to make this tune a definitive statement of Document One's musical heritage. And of course, that means it has that jazzfunk dancefloor energy in abundance.

Then “Small Steps” flips the script, darkening things up in a way you might not be expecting from these guys. The intro is the sound of approaching menace, as military drums call the dance to order. An eerie dialogue sample ratchets up the tension, before a building kick pattern is deployed as a call-to-arms. Then the drop is all about those twisted tendrils of bass, snaking around techstep drums and ghost-in-the-machine stabs. This is what happens when musicality meets aggression on a hell-bent mission to mash up the rave.

So, as well as keeping a firm grip on their low-down dancefloor funking credentials, this release has proved that Document One have a love and talent for all sides of this music. As their track titles declare, they “Run the Block” in the funk neighbourhood and they're making “Small Steps” into the shadowy technoid realm. Now they've shown they can kill the dance in both, it's clear the Document One operation doesn't believe in boundaries.

New A_GIM single Rajka (featuring additional vocals from Klark, a member of Lilly Hates Roses) has been out for a while. The highly acclaimed song announces the first solo release of Agim Dżeljilji, one of the most recognisable electronic music producers in Poland.

As he’s been in love with synthesizers from his early beginnings, the musician managed to create his unrepeatable style. Being a former member of Őszibarack or Nervy, he attended major European festivals and released several albums.

Now you can be nail-biting waiting for the upcoming compositions, but A_GIM has prepared a set of Rajka’s remixes to wet your appetite. New versions of this minimal ballad were created by extraordinarily talented Polish guys: Meeting by Chance (Marcin Cichy from Skalpel), Marcin Czubala and drum and bass duo Handra.

We figured it was time for some d&b again, we had a few tracks lying around for a while that we wanted to finish and put out and we had 2 collabs that went well together. We wanted to call it the 'Tryhard EP', cause all the tracks were so full on. Then Nik & Karol (khomatech.com) started on the artwork, and couldnt really come up with anyuthing cool with that name, so we decided 'Imperial' was a better name. The artwork took about a week to make. We are very proud of this EP.

Imperial w/ Phace 
Phace came out to Groningen again, as he tends to do, to do music. We started this one without working on the main groove first, Florian had brought this awesome chord progrssion. We made the intro and progression from it, which is quite different musically from our normal stuff. Then we went a bit theatrical with the music, i guess we kind of suprised ourselves with the intensity of the drop. But it was refreshing to do. And it´s been going down rather well in our sets..

Tryhard 
This is an older track that has had quite a few incarnations. It used to be called ´lomp´, which translates to crude, or blunt. We had it lying around unfinished for a long time, and a certain youtube set rip was getting a lot of love, so we figured we'd finish it. Changed the mix, added a rollout section, etc. One of the inspriations for this track is Bad Company - 'Dogfight'.. such a sick tune.

Dustup w/ The Upbeats 
Our friends The Upbeats came down to Groningen amidst one of their Europe tours and we hung out, got in the studio, found an old unused bass riff, used it in the buildup, recorded all of us going 'HA' and 'ZU', worked on drum fills for a long time, temporarly called the tune 'Pumpers', jumped around in the studio and voila! 'Dust Up' was born.

Containment 
This track has had many faces also. It started as a bit of a Kemal tribute and and an attempt to do as many things with synths as possible, like the main drums for example (FM8). Along the way it became a journey back into the dark spacious sound of early 2000 era D&B.
