This is probably one of my favourite techno mixes I've done to date! Bit of everything in there, from the jackin to the bleepy to the heavy stuff. The sort of tunes I love to hear on a night out, and now it looks like gigs could be happening again soon, AVA Festival - where you at!?

Jay Clarke returns to his imprint BLACKAXON for his 6th instalment which will be dropping in 4 parts across September and October 2021. The project titled ‘Riders of the Storm’ was announced earlier in the year across his social media channels where he made 4 previously unreleased original tracks available to remix as part of a competition. This was opened up to all production levels, with the idea to give lesser experienced artists the chance to remix, get creative and most importantly have fun. Jay has carefully selected his favourite remixes which will now be presented on the label.

Since 2018 he has been active in the techno scene organizing raves and club events together with the collective "Nacht der Träume", as well as curating the weekly cube x klubnacht in Düsseldorf.
His sound is rooted in minimalism,
polymetetric grooves meet dubby atmosphere and hyponotic synths.

"    After Germany, Uruguay, Denmark and France, we are landing this month in Montreal where @bittercaress is based.

I discovered BitterCaress through the @technomateclub podcast series last year.
I was instantly hooked by her high energy mixes. I’ve been following her ever since. I love how she uses her “Mixing for a Cause” podcast series to raise awareness of causes that are meaningful to her. I am honoured to have been a part of this series. More recently she started her own label @mfcrecords with all proceeds going to carefully chosen non-profit organisations.

Sharp selector, she recently did a podcast for @possessiontechno where she blends trancey bangers and fat 4-to-the-floor. I am very excited to have her on board this month.

Next up on Made Of Concrete is an EP from a true label mainstay - part of the lifeblood of the label; Toni Dextor.

Currently based in Berlin - Dextor has also released a slew of releases on labels such as Planet Rhythm, Adroit and Sektor Evolution. 

Also included in the package is a remix from Zürich based Jelena - the branch between the two being her involvement with Adroit.

'The Focus' kicks things off with an urgent, wrought iron loop that hacks it's way through intensifying drums which build towards a mangled and mind-bending breakdown. The pressure doesn't let up as the tracks charges to it's conclusion, propelled by a kick as hefty as a mallet that keeps you trapped in a bit-crushed cage.

'R14' then follows up with a highly effective, capacious Techno track. With drums as thick as they come - panned, reverberated textures and a consistent stab are suffused with a metallic texture that provides a chilly but highly kinetic energy before Jelena's remix brings the record to a close.

Her interpretation sets shimmering subs create a buoyant bed for the track - the kick bounces off from it as another pupil-widening sequence wades in. An elongated breakdown reaches it's zenith before letting go in a manner guaranteed to send the floor into rapture.

Modulate is a online livestream show from Berlin.
The show consists of a roster of different artists, all with varied approaches towards techno and electronic music more broadly.
They unveil their sound to you - the listener - and even try to push themselves to deviate from their usual sound, providing
listeners with a unique opportunity to hear sets that differ from their usual repertoires.
