For the 14th Pathways we welcome Matt Drake.

Drawing inspiration from the astral arpeggios of 70s Krautrock, ragged Balearic vagabond synth pop of the 80s and proto-rave machine rhythms of the 90s he has dedicated his life to music. 

Being a core part of New Zealand's underground dance music scene since the early 90s - touring clubs, festivals and events across the land, a founding member of Nurture Recordings, running Crucial Records on Auckland's High Street, hosting the decade long Slipstream radio on George FM, running club nights such as Beatstreet, and is a creative director at Lo-Fi Productions who have been creating epic boutique music experiences with the very best house and techno artists from Aotearoa and from across the globe.

CHI WOW WAH RADIO episode 012 features Husa & Zeyada live with their set recorded from the Hypestream: at Red Canyon, Nuweiba, Egypt. 

Husa & Zeyada's sound simmers towards indie-rock dance electronica, draped in English and Arabic lyrics, open for experimentation. This inward trip is also visual - in an ongoing comic parallel world, Husa & Zeyada give center-stage to the more curious and peculiar parts of their selves. Each release is accompanied by illustrated stories of the little creatures that inhabit our minds; the ones that spring from our subconscious, shaped by pressures and desires. These characters explore what happens when we listen to the creative monsters under our skin.

The 3 hours of groovy, swingy vibes in this mix were inspired by Tulum organic / melodic house, Latin house, Afro house, deep house, some disco flavors, and a bit of indie dance. A melting pot, if you will. 🖤

Was truly honored to perform at this year's Island Vibe. With 17 years of delivering Reggae, World, and Soul music to Aussies, it allowed me to reconnect with one of my first loves as a raver 15 years ago.

Some tracks were pulled from my sound-system clash days, and this mix features a blend of afro house, afro beat, and dubby house, merging half a lifetime of musical influences.

I really love fusing different genres, and gigs like this one give me the chance to mix super sonic soundscapes in unique ways, especially during my favorite set time - sunset. Thank you for having me crew 🙏🏾

The dust has barely settled after our first episode of 2024, but we are welcomed back with a new cowboy rolling into town. Uone takes charge of the seventh instalment for the DEPTH. PERCEPTION series performed at the beautiful Winton Wetlands site, located north of Melbourne city. 

Since the inception of the DEPTH. project we have been a big fan of Uone’s music and expertise inside the booth. Our first experience was in the blistering heat of the Eclipse Festival held in Far North Queensland, our second was hosting him in Cairns for one of our interstate events. 

Over the years Uone has continued to grow his name, playing at some of the biggest and best festivals around the globe. Not only is he working on his own brand within the electronic music scene, but also his label and festival Chi Wow Wah Town which are seen to be staples here in the dance music community. 

With releases spanning across many different imprints globally, his newfound love is right here in in the country on Beat & Path. A forward-thinking electronic music label with an aim of nurturing talent from New Zealand & Australia. 

Little needs to be said about Chi Wow Wah Town. The leading boutique festival for all lovers of deep organic house, techno, ambient and global electronica sounds. This year in February celebrating its 10th anniversary with a stacked line up of the finest on offer from Australia and abroad. 

For this performance, Uone takes us on a journey through his signature sound of western-influenced deep house. The backdrop of the Winton Wetlands sets the scene perfectly, as Uone navigates us through the Australian landscape. The soundtrack features indigenous instruments, grungy guitar riffs and thick rolling basslines.

@brandonpatrao took over the dancefloor on Saturday evening for a sunset journey between 18:00 to 20:00! This set tells his story and takes listeners across a journey through genres. It also showcases Patrao’s travels across his life with glimpses of Indian sound throughout the set!

Overall, vibes and energy was high! You can safely say that you’ll have a smile on your face after listening to this set!

Before we put out our first official release on Acidtourism, the "Acid Tourist" insists we take you on a little detour and visit some re-imaginations that we have been working on these past years. We will start this side-expedition of the musical kind and travel back to my homeland, Iceland, with an artist that has been an inspiration through the years, Björk,  and an homage to her song "Always Full of Love.” 

Toward the end of the pandemic, I had the pleasure of working in the studio with my Brother, @RohanAlyan, at his Modern Art Theory gallery in Miami.

Together, we captured its essence and redressed it into a serious peak-time banger.
