watching the bears destroy the patriots in 1985 was the first time I watched a super bowl.  it was the year i awoke to popular culture .  Superbowl shuffle for ever.   Those guys couldn't rap or dance but they sure could play football. lol.

Hey Moe man, love that descending guitar melody you fingerpick so expertly. You are an amazing fingerpicker on all your work in which you do it, though. Wonderful job singing it, too. Your vocal melodies are very accessible and memorable throughout. I assume you came up with the guitar part before the vocal melodies, though, yeah? Either way, they fit the song perfectly. Outstanding work here, brother man!

Carl came up with this song at the beginning of November on his acoustic guitar, and shared it with the rest of us shortly after. Carl is a songwriting supernova, in case you're unfamiliar with our newest addition to the team. We're always excited and grateful to get to work on his music. 
  Mark was first to add his parts, although he tweaked them throughout the process. His work can be heard in the dramatic string arrangement and mellotron at the crescendo. Josh was next to jump in, adding his new upright bass to the song. He played not only the plucked part, but the bowed part in the strings section, too. Ken came along next with his perfect drums to complete the rhythm section. JJ wanted in on this, too, so he added the foundational piano you hear throughout. Last, but not least, Stephen dropped in his electrifying guitar solo and the accompanying textural chords using is Danelectro baritone guitar, followed at the very end by his magical e-bow part. 
  Once it was all in the bag, we asked Tez to produce and mix it for us, which he did in his always expert fashion. 
  This is our latest song of which Carl is the author. He's been making music with us for the past half a year now, and we can't get enough of his abundant creativity. We hope you enjoy listening to this as much as we enjoyed creating it.
  Also, Carl had this to say about his lyrics, "Labels and putting each other in a particular box is causing big problems on the planet. The song's meaning is born from trying to take labels out of our lessons. In a polarized world, the song pines how we will likely learn lessons properly if we leave ego out of what we are trying to learn. Maybe our art has more relevance for future generations if we do that instead of bolting it to the current people or ideas causing us problems."

The lyrics of this song were born suddenly, last spring. Like a spark.
I actually was already working on a song about rebirth, blooming trees and spring vibes in the air on those days.
But it was a special period for me, because I listened a lot to Elliott Smith and read a book about him.
I watched a bunch of footage of his interviews and live performances.
I discovered his beautiful music. His songs are amazing. 
Certainly all together had inspired me enough to write those melancholic nostalgic lines.
I think everyone at least once felt unheard and unseen.
This song flew out from my heart like a bird, and now it's free.
I am really happy to share it with the world!

This song is for the person that you love. 

One of my earliest memories is watching the 1985 Chicago Bears win the Super Bowl for American Football. I have always loved Chicago sports teams, and have rediscovered my love for the game after many years away. 

On December 20th, my daughter and I watched the Bears vs. Packers game on TV.  They are intense rivals, and the Bears had lost against them just two weeks earlier in a very close game that came down to the wire. During halftime she went to sleep because quite frankly we weren't playing all that great and we were losing.  But after the break, the Bears slowly started finding their game, and made what was one of the most improbable comebacks in NFL history.  

I wanted to wake her up and tell her, but it was past midnight when the game finished because they went into overtime. But her favorite player, DJ Moore, caught the game winning touchdown in the most dramatic fashion. So this song is about how I would have to wait until the morning to tell her the good news.

This is a remixed track from the Isaiah project. With time, I'll address some imperfections. The text comes directly from Isaiah chapter 29, verses 13 and 14.

You Can't Put Your Arms Around A Memory...one of the best song titles ever and one of Johnny's best songs.... from his 1978 solo album So Alone

 I stole that line  and his identifiable little Dsus riff for my tune about the past and his song that inspired it.

Johnny has been gone more than three decades now.. He had a serious heroin addiction which essentially destroyed his career and ended his life at the young age of 38 . He died alone in a hotel room  in New Orleans in April 1991.
He had a RnR swagger and style and I've always liked his energetic  loud guitar
there is none of that here mind you..this tune, it's all cheesy melancholic blather  with some simple piano and Midi cello with a sprinkle of  accordian


I just learned  that the  title of his song came from an  episode of the 50s sitcom the Honeymooners with Jackie Gleason spouting off to his TV wife Audrey Meadows that line ...Johnny like me found inspiration in TV...

Hi I'm Moe, I like to play and record music. Here you will find my songs about things in life.  Some might call it pretty, sad music "pretty sad music") and I think that's accurate. 

My first group of songs from 2024 were more pop-oriented, and my tracks from 2025 have been more of the moody acoustic type. Over the past couple of years I have become obsessed with Elliott Smith, so there may be some influence there.
