Reset Robot is no stranger to Truesoul. Having had 3 previous releases this new EP is his best yet. Starting with the title track ‘False Widow’, Reset Robot introduces a low throbbing sound to give the initial groove of the track before the cyclic melodic synth gives the track its character.  ‘The Measure’ uses a delayed stab to create a big impression whilst it layers itself over a swelling pad sound that whisks itself in-and-out of the track before a vocal stab is introduced. ‘Doug Dougan’ is a slowed down jam that uses a more melodic bass line to the rest of the EP. The underlying pad sound builds and rises to create the tension within the track before exploding back into a chugging groove. The fourth track ‘Hello Wendy’ is also on the slower side of the EP and creates a cool groove by combining percussion and a groovy bass line to work synonymously.

2012 has been by far the most exciting start to any year in Pig&Dans 10 year strong career. After beginning the year with the much acclaimed release Pollerwiesen on Stephan Bodzins cult label Herzblut, the Dynamic duo once again teamed up with Mark Reeve and produced the techno bombrelease Origami. Soma records launched Origami into the Beatport top 20 and saw the title track just skim the outskirts of the top 10.

Almost immediately after, Pig&Dan released the Beatport top 5 smasher Machines on Bedrock. Looking back, the meeting of minds during a chance encounter of Igor Tchkotoua (Pig) and Dan Duncan on a flight to Spain in 1999, sounds like the opening scene of a Hollywood movie, certainly neither musician could have the written the script of what happened next. Recognizing a mutual philosophy, and using their own musical background that dated back to the start of the dance scene, they combined to create a slick production outfit that would entrance clubbers and DJs alike.

Now some 10+ years further on Soma present Decade! Pig&Dan fly into this release from a lofty position on the electronica scene. Topping numerous charts, DJ polls plus their unique way of performing high-energy DJ sets have brought an unstoppable momentum to the innovative duo. From early incarnations the pairing have become an integral and innovative part of the Techno landscape. Their sounds have for some time now blended a core of depth with recurrent hooks and loops being studded in marvellous style by intricate drum hits and carefully crafted sounds which progress and deepen to formulate really upbeat and euphoric output.

This full-length album release through Soma provides great insight into why the pair has become so visible and important, smoothly shifting between an underground ethos whilst maintaining a synergy with and respect for the audience whose aural enjoyment is of paramount importance to the pair. The quality and diversity displayed on the album means that this 10 year anniversary LP displays perfectly produced sounds with maintained dynamism and intricacy throughout. Such rich depth and innovation enables this album to sit proudly within Somas canon of great releases and the very nature of the intense, all-consuming and potent sound makes this album an essential part of the future direction of Pig&Dan and the wider musical sphere.

Rose’s 10th EP on Closed Eyes Recordings named “from the Heart” tells a personal story. This EP is all about love and its infinite scope of feelings it triggers. The first track named: What We Do For Love starts out with a dreamy 8 chord progression followed by classic Rose Ringed 16th note baseline and hi-hats. The track is all about the huge break which builds down slowly and then explodes into an ’80s like melody which makes you feel both euphoric and nostalgic at the same time. This is some fist-pumping main stage material and also Rose’s favorite track he produced in his career. 

The Second track named; More Than Anything starts out with a lush sounding 32 bar melody which is followed by a groovy kick and base combination. The tracks build on and surprise with a jazzy solo leading into the break. The melody the tracks start with gets opened up again and switches the song to a melodic baseline instead of a groovy one. The tracks follow a very unusual song structure and has quite some surprises, to rose this is track resembles many aspects of his musical tastes. You can hear his jazz roots in the solo and chords, his love for energy in the baseline, and his love for euphoric inducing moments in all the drops. 

The Third track named Paradise is again very different than the other tracks. With its Big vocal leading into a big drop with a huge sub-baseline the track makes you dream away. As the lyrics tell you, the soundscape feels like a dream-like a paradise. Rose tells us the chords in the track makes him feel very melancholic and made the track for him.
