P303.4 - Acid Synthesis - Rhythm of Life EP

Hailing from Seoul but now firmly based in Amsterdam, Naone delivers a superb EP on Warning, mixing her emotional background with her more contemporary roots, the perfect bridge between both worlds, Asia and Europe, or perhaps between her inner self and the outside world. Starting with Perfectly Harmless, the mysterious track develops into deep feelings that really unfold and expand in Hondon-Ui Kaosu (Chaos of Chaos), where the electro breakbeat responds to a melody with hints of pop consciousness.

On the flip side, the Korean artist unleashes her passion with the deep psy-trance infused enigmatic techno groover Haengjin (Marching), followed by a sensitive downtempo acid closer aptly titled What's Happening. Ultimately, this is about the process of making music, channeling emotions and perceptive energies to create a balanced representation of past emotions and memories.

The mix is centered around those tracks others share with you, the ones you feel so grateful for, and wonder how you would've found otherwise. Maybe it takes your taste in a whole new direction, maybe it opens up an artist's discography that you'd previously overlooked, or it puts you onto a label or scene you've never heard of who deliver the exact sound you're after. Everything in this mix created those moments for me.

Each track was recommended to me by good friend Paul Beynon / Deeper Waters. What started out as me accidentally taking his phone, thinking it was mine, has turned into many evenings spent browsing through his collections and being put onto countless great releases. From bargain bin records where quality far exceeds the price tag, to long lost IDs I'd given up finding, to alternate, cheaper releases of long time wantlist lingerers (ganja mist!). There's a bit of all that in the mix.

I can't not tell the classic story of chatting to another group on the dance floor, having a real Shawn of the Dead doppelganger scene moment, and then saying we should stay in touch when the night came to an end. Fast forward ten years and these guys are now my nearest and dearest.

I went to Sunwaves for the first time this year after many years of watching from a digital distance. I had my mind blown numerous times that week, never been to something that locks you in and keeps you hooked in such a way.

I had some incredible times at Five Miles, RIP. From my first @rupture, to @theoparrish and @nicolemoudaber all night. Nothing more than a red light, nice drinks and a soundsystem that felt like the whole room could take off.

JIN enters autumn with a familiar yet evolving sound. For our eighth release (JIN08), we are delighted to have Tokyo's house wizard, Gonno, make his long-awaited return to JIN with a full EP, after the still talked about JIN01 quintessential remix of Initials B.B.'s "Paradise Patterns".

ILA027 - Dylab [Preview Clips]

Waveguide might seem like a new artist addition to a.r.t.less’ roster, but it’s Mojuba’s japanese mainstay Stereociti presenting his new alter ego focussing on Techno side of things. In contrast to Stereociti Waveguide is approaching different methods in sound design and actual composition ranging back to the raw energy of the very beginning of Ken Sumitani’s musical journey.
Quod EP starts off with the title track and immerges you instantly into a sonic sea of swirling repetitive chords, riding on the wave of a steady ever forwarding bass tone carried by the steady kick and graced with echoing synth stabs and syncopated hats along the way.
The second track Tightrope is raising the tempo propels you right into to space on a funky broken beat lurching through space debris and stardust while catch glimpses of beautiful supernovas while trying to elude those gravitational forces caused by black holes.
Lemma the EP’s third title is carrying on the tempo and the broken funk if its predecessor but delivers a friendlier outlook with whirling and swelling melodies, like it wants to prepare you for the final adventure of this tonal journey.
Cubic Root closes out the first Waveguide mission on Mojuba sub label a.r.t.less with an orchestra of tripping acid basslines accompanied by dripping like synth leads exploring the polymetric realm of Techno in an always evolving echo chamber. Mojuba est. 2005 as a platform for the sweet sounds from the realm of deep house, but you know exception proves the rule. a.r.t.less is the outlet for the techno side of things, it is very likely to find some Detroit related sounds here. wandering music one of the younger members in the label-family is a platform for any other kind of great music which might not necessarily fit the other two labels so you can expect tracks and songs ranging from freaking minimal to modern classical or even experimental stuff everything can happen, there are no rules!
