Roma based dj/producer  A-Tweed (@antakaatweed) delivers an odd disco edit from "Skypass" track included in "Discomusic" LP (1978) by Italian soundtrack legend Maestro Piero Umiliani. 

A-Tweed is the moniker of Ant De Oto, Italian dj/producer based in Rome. His music is an essential smoothie of acid weird downbeats, dark electronics, afrofuturism, EBM, cosmic disco, global bass, tribal techno and goodies of world music at 360 °. In his DJ sets, A-Tweed tells stories about Black Africa, the alleys of New Orleans or Marrakech and the endless paths that lead from the noisy Glasgow factories to Buenos Aires and the Colombian Pacific and the streets of Phnom Penh and among the taiko players in Japan.

His latest EPs have been released on the French label  Hard Fist and on the Argentine Playground Records, with remixes by Dengue Dengue Dengue and Fabrizio Mammarella, among others. He is resident with his "Coal & Ash Circuit" show on Radio Alhara (Bethlehem, Palestine).

La sintesi di una storia quasi sconosciuta. 
Luca Prodan (1953-1987), l’italiano che cantando in inglese rivoluzionò il rock in castigliano (secondo Rolling Stone), era un adolescente romano di buona famiglia. Aveva un problema con l’eroina e una grande passione per la musica. I genitori, pensando di toglierlo dai guai, lo mandarono in un collegio in Scozia dal quale scappò per andare a vivere da squatter a Londra. Era la metà degli anni 70 e Luca fu travolto dal punk, divenne uno della scena, fu in molte band e fu persino nel servizio d’ordine dei Clash. Passò sette anni a Londra infognandosi sempre di più nell’eroina. Nell’81, per salvarsi la vita, decise di espatriare in Argentina, un paese che a causa della dittatura militare e della guerra delle Falkland non aveva rapporti con l’Inghilterra. In Argentina non esisteva l’eroina e, a causa dell’embargo, non si sapeva nulla di quello che succedeva musicalmente nel resto del mondo. Luca arrivò con una valigia piena di dischi e con multitraccia a cassette. Fondò una band chiamata SUMO che rivoluzionò totalmente il rock argentino e in lingua spagnola in generale. In Argentina Sumo rimane la band più amata di tutti i tempi e Luca Prodan è considerato uno degli artisti più importanti dell’ultimo quarto  del novecento. Le sua popolarità in vita equivaleva a quella di Vasco Rossi in Italia, ma con un suono molto più aspro, che mescolava la new wave più scura e nervosa al reggae e al punk. Nessun disco di Sumo è mai stato pubblicato in Italia e nemmeno recensito. Luca è morto di cirrosi epatica nel 1987. Il suo demone era il gin. L’immenso amore che gli argentini provano Luca Prodan non è mai scemato. Credo che in tutto in italiano sia stato scritto un solo articolo su di lui, ma spero che presto questa assurda lacuna venga colmata da un documentario che è in fase di realizzazione. Lo curerà anche suo fratello Andrea che è un bravo attore che ha lavorato anche in importanti produzioni italiane. L’immagine che vedete è la copertina dello speciale monografico che l’edizione sudamericana di Rolling Stone gli ha dedicato nel 2002 (grazie a Mauricio Ceruolo per avermela prestata, la conservo gelosamente e te la devo restituire, lo so  ).
Io ho scoperto Sumo negli anni novanta a Bologna grazie a una mia amica argentina che mi ha duplicato le cassette e me ne sono innamorato profondamente. Qualche hanno fa ho scritto questa canzone col Santo Niente che non ha mai trovato la strada dell’album, perché la formazione che la realizzò perse dei pezzi. La mia voce è più strana del solito, stavo sperimentando, ma c’è anche la versione strumentale. Il bellissimo riff principale e quello finale sono del grande Alessio D’Onofrio, mio compagno di band per dieci anni, io ho scritto il ponte e le parole.
