Eric Hall 
(b. Saint Louis, MO 1975)

Eric Hall is a composer, improviser, producer, and performer of electronic-based music, as well as an installation artist, DJ, and freelance music and arts educator.

Hall performed John Cage's "First Construction (In Metal)" as a solo live-sampled electro-acoustic piece with The Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra, has done several sound-sculptures and interactive installations for The Saint Louis Art Museum; The Contemporary Art Museum Saint Louis; The Forum For Contemporary Art; Laumeier Sculpture Park; and White Flag Projects, composed and performed works commissioned by Washington University and Forest Park College, designed and curated several interactive performances, recorded impromptu performances from several different local artists in several Saint Louis public spaces for 52nd City's SOUND issue, and has collaborated on stage and record with hundreds of artists across the country.

Besides performing as a solo artist and within more sporadic projects and collaborations, Hall is also in the psych / metal / space trio N. Nomurai, as well as Grandpa's Ghost, a band often described as experimental roots-rock and with whom he has done several collaborations with video artist James Fotopoulos.

While it is not his only interest, Hall is very fascinated with exploring the musical and sonic analogies of cubism (the idea of viewing something from multiple perspectives and moments in time simultaneously) and mobiles (a singular structure with multiple actions happening independently of one another; extensions that pivot and swing at different rates, but all maintaining balance as a whole). To achieve this Hall often uses several real-time samplers to shift events live within time and change pitch, speed, length, direction, and volume to create a kaleidoscopic vantage of the sound sources; whether that is his own sounds or that of his live collaborators. When performing solo, Hall mostly uses real-time samplers to manipulate field recordings, sine waves, and metal percussion, then further treats the sounds with numerous effects processors (many of which are custom), as well as various radio receivers and transmitters.

Hall also frequently DJ's parties in clubs, galleries, museums, and homes; doing all-original live mash-ups of Top 40 songs spanning several decades.
