Ok yes… the world is sicker than ever, but that doesn't mean we get to stop. 
 
The past months have seen long overdue eruptions of sadness and rage directed at bloated, militarized, racist police forces and iniquitous government spending around the world. The puzzle pieces are assembling and fresh eyes are examining corrupt practices that Black & brown communities have criticized for decades. It is time to defund the police and invest in communities that have been systemically attacked. 
 
For the third volume of Physically Sick, we are focusing on local efforts and raising money for Equality For Flatbush, an organization that has been fighting racist police abuse and gentrification since 2013. Equality For Flatbush mobilizes direct aid when necessary, recently ensuring Brooklyn residents have groceries and supplies during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Techno, house, and all the sounds at the root of electronic dance music, are born from Black communities. Dance music can only be sustained by an inclusive joy for the marginalized and the dispossessed. As we rally in support of Black lives, the struggles against police violence, and inequality, it is the responsibility of every person, from DJs to dancers, not to let things slide back to business as usual.

Physically Sick 3 is a fundraising compilation from Discwoman & Allergy Season curated by Frankie Decaiza Hutchinson, Umfang, and Physical Therapy. All proceeds from the compilation will go to Equality For Flatbush. Out Thursday July 3rd, 2020 and available exclusively through Bandcamp. Artwork by Jordan E. Moss. Vissacoor was a network of thoughts that operated from 2013 to 2014 between L-Vis 1990 and Dave Quam. During its short existence, many mangled audio files were generated, with the sole purpose of terrorizing live audiences. After sitting in the vaults for years, we are proud to present these bleak dystopian conceptions in their original, unfiltered form.

All sounds manifested in NYC, Portland, and Puerto Escondido.

The ‘Prove It EP’ release is the continuation of a transformative year for Jasmine featuring two new cuts and remixes from her favorite producers. ‘Stunna’ dives into her love and herstory for the ballroom vogue scene. She calls on Bay Area vogue royalty and vocalist ‘Sir JoQ’ for chants, while still bringing her ravy brand of techo & club sounds. The title track “Prove It’ is a refined yet still authentic version of her sound, equipped with eerily pitched vocals, layers of synths and loops, with warm but apocalyptic vibes throughout. Remixers Buzzi (NYC), Violet (Portugal), and Bapari (LA) round out the release with hard techno, deconstructed club, and broken beat versions of the tracks.

Featuring 8 different artists from Mexico to Lithuania, Peru, Portugal, Florida, UK and Belgium, ‘Maloca Vol. 1’ outlines the worldly focus of Le Motel’s new label. 

Launching Maloca Records earlier this year, the label’s ethos is to build bridges interlinking disparate yet like-minded musicians dedicated to blending organic electronic and acoustic elements. The global network of makers highlighted on Maloca Vol.1, the label’s first compilation, confabs a terrestrial and borderless percussive sound that has been bubbling in clubs and Le Motel’s orbit. 

Opening the compilation is esteemed Peruvian duo Dengue Dengue Dengue followed by Lithuania's DJ JM who has previously released on the likes of Nervous Horizon and Goon Club Allstars, Miami artist and NAAFI affiliate Nick León and Lisbon’s DJ N.K. On the second half of the compilation, there are contributions from the label founder himself, Mexico’s Omaar, UK’s Coen and mysterious artist Tsongo. 

Maloca Records has put out three vinyl releases to date from Oakland’s Farsight, Beijing’s Howie Lee and Le Motel. The label is quickly building a reputation for releasing brilliant forward-thinking club records whilst capturing specific international sounds.
