“Had real fun kicking this one off a little slower than usual, playing around with the low bpm wobblers before launching from 100-145bpm. I traverse a wide palette of left-leaning sounds: touching on tribal breaks, bass, world club, uk funky, glitchy techno and even a sprinkling of prog. Lots of different moods and passages in there, reflecting how I like a set to unfold!”

Dublin native Breen pays homage to the city's rave foundations with his new club-focused EP 'Dublin Delight', rambling through hard house, acid and breakbeat rave.

Featured track 'Rave Auld Times' was made using dialogue samples from the renowned 2016 documentary 'Notes On Rave In Dublin' and encompasses the energy of the 90s dance boom in Ireland with a fitting raw and rhythmic breakbeat basement track.

PREMIERE: Breen - Rave Auld Times

MINX series is back today with a stellar dub-infused mix from Isabel Farrington aka Jezebel. Jezebel is a Dublin based Dj currently in Trinity College and working as a nightlife photographer. Shooting at gigs has given Jezebel exposure to music which has helped her to curate her own personal sound and allowed her to meet a lot of friends who have encouraged her in her beginning to DJ. 

Although based in Dublin time frequented in the UK and Spain has influenced her sound and she hopes to reflect this in this mix. Expect some deeply dug dubstep, garage, bass, drums, reggaeton and speed dembow!

joining me for my last ever broadcast on 1020 radio is none other than great friend & dj, hannah !

i have known hannah for the best part of over a year and it’s great to see her really blossom over the past year and a half to fully develop the sound and direction she wants to create with her music so couldn’t think of a more ideal person for the show for a b2b mix!

floated through alot of uk sounds with uk bass, dubstep , grime, uk drill and more with some techno and breaky bits thrown in for good measure!

it’s been a pleasure to be able to broadcast on 1020 for the past couple of months and i am devastated to see the station has to come to a close due to the cost of living & the effects of covid!

but don’t fret, i shall be back soon with the show on another station in the future 🫡

F&F MIX005_PERSONAL_GROWTH

I recently attended a party with my nearest and dearest in an undisclosed location. When stepping up to the decks to play alongside 2 of my closest compadres, I discovered that the only Hard-Drive containing my playlists for our set wasn't being recognised by the CDJs in use! 

Panic ensued! (>_<)

Thankfully on arriving in the field I had found a USB that I'd recently lost with some older playlists. Whilst maintaining somewhat of a straight face and holding back the attacks of panic, I managed to mish-mash mixes together for the following 3 hours, heavily assisted by having 2 of the best (Clara & Seb) mixing in and out of my train-wreck set.

Lessons learned:
1 - Always bring a backup USBs (preferably with up to date playlists)
2 - DJing B2B with amazing selectors makes life a whole lot easier
