Finally! The live recording of such a beautiful night/sunrise we spent in Atlixco, Mexico, with the Amores Experience family celebratin Dia de los Muertos in a magic way. So happy to have performed there, the energy was surreal, from the venue, to the people, to the other artists. It's been definitely one of the highlights of my Mexico tour and even my whole year. Music is a bit upbeat, but the context definitely allowed it.

Well here we go. Another year and another Sunset Campout and again I was honored to play the closing set to wrap up the best party in the world Sunday on the beach. 
I did this one a little different and started with just some of my favorite slower jams and didn't really do much mixing for the first 30 min or so, but I got going after a few tunes and then it was off to the races. 
This one is bitter sweet as we lost our dear friend/brother/musical compatriot, Navid Izadi, one week to the day after this was recorded. 

This is for him.

//What do you love about Yamba?
Oh, there is a lot I love for it. I love the family spirit that’s behind it, its design, the quality of the food and the drinks and its musical orientation. Musically I am more the timeless side myself and I like it when people the guts to not run chasing every trend.

//What was your idea when your played this set at Yamba. recently?
Obviously there was no dancing allowed, so I played a lounger set that was supposed to simply create the perfect ethereal and floating soundscape for the beautiful day at the beach. I knew that Disco and soulfulness are strong elements of the music choice usually and that’s what I’m coming from so wherever it’s welcome I play a set like this. 

//What’s your ritual before a gig?
If you wanna call it a ritual. I always do the following: whenever I come into a venue, a room, I try to feel it. Sometimes that takes only a few minutes, sometimes more. I am trying to intuitively feel into what this room needs to take off. Sometimes this can mean to reset a room at 10bpm lower from the first records to slowly rise the energy again, sometimes it’s continuing exactly there where it is at this very moment and transforming it later. I am also feeling into the question if the room is ready at all for these types of stories I like to tell and sometimes, not often, the answer is a no. And then I just play a set that’s more on the functional side because in the end it’s my job to make the people dance.

FYI, Momus or Momos was in Greek mythology the god of satire, mockery, censure, writers, poets; a spirit of evil-spirited blame and unfair criticism. He is depicted in classical art as lifting a mask from his face.

Momus is also and foremost a Parisian house music lover, who started in 2004 to actively collect records and regularly DJ in Paris, forging himself a peculiar music style falling somewhere between house, funk, and techno.

Moving to New York in 2009, Momüs pursued a sound engineer program to further develop his electronic music knowledge and skills. Rapidly part of the local underground scene, Momüs continuously learns and improves his DJ sets and productions, leading him to become resident at Output, Disco Before Sunset, Studio 151 and Baron among others. Tired of the hectic lifestyle of the Apple, Momüs moved to Lisbon in 2016 where he opened the beach club Yamba, and currently resides.

Influenced by both Detroit analog raw sounds and Parisian filtered and funky house, Momüs bridges the styles in his warm, groovy, and disco infused DJ sets and production, with the simple aim to get the best moves and smiles out of his audience; no mental masturbation here.
