The andhim boys have been close friends of our family for nearly a decade, when we brought them to the US for the first time and they rocked a Brooklyn rooftop dancefloor with their infectious Super House sound. They are two of the most talented, hilarious, exciting and humble people in electronic music -- it's an honor to host this milestone radio show for a fresh new mix from the boys from Cologne. andhim are a German DJ and producer duo consisting of Simon Haehnel & Tobias Müller. Since their founding year 2010, they have published over 60 songs and remixes. They have worked with artists such as Theophilus London, Diplo, Hogni Egilson, Groove Armada and Elderbrook and made it to number 31 on the German Single Charts with their remix for Wine & Chocolates. 

The two describe their sound as “super house” - their very own definition of electronic music that, whether melodic or deep, always bears the typical andhim fingerprint. In addition to the musical component, the two have placed great emphasis on a strong visual concept in their representation as an artist, which is reflected in countless music videos. They always present themselves with a wink,
without sabotaging the seriousness of their art.

With over 100 international shows annually and residencies in New York, Los Angeles, London and Melbourne, they are among the most successful DJ duos in the scene. Due to their past as turntablists, their skills on the decks are unmatched. As part of the 'Noisy Stylus' turntable crew, Tobias became a multiple ITF and DMC champion and had a lasting influence on the scene at the time.

In 2016 they founded their own label Superfriends Records, a label that captures the pair’s charm and ebullience; one that has moved from gentle eclecticism through infinite fun into a refined and contagiously unique electronic sound. It is an outlet for the duo’s most ambitious ideas. An independent exercise in only the finest studio output from themselves to those that inspire, influence and impress.

Andhim have over the last decade cultivated an exceptionally loyal fan base of musical lovers and peers alike; that continue to crave the German pairs musical agility and action packed forays.

In 2020 their documentary film "Miles To Go" was released, a road trip along the west coast of America, which shows a deep dive into the lives of the two on tour and how they work with each other. The documentary has been shown at several international film festivals so far and has won two coveted prizes: “Best Score” (Swindon Independent Film Fest, UK) and “Best Documentary Feature” (San Diego IKFF, USA). The music in the film was written exclusively by the two and released at the same time as the film as a soundtrack album "Miles To Go".

3 QUESTIONS to SOLEE:

Q: Some words about the music included in this podcast?

A: First of all I really love this concept! ;-) I decided to select some important tracks for me from my personal beginnings. Not the beginning of my project "Solee". When I started to listen, feel and celebrate electronic music in the early 90ies these were the tracks I felt in love with. With these tracks I spent many hours on the dancefloor when I drove with my friends to Frankfurt or Munich to big rave parties or to our local clubs in Stuttgart. But this kind of atmospheric and melodic music also inspired me to start collecting music, playing as a DJ and later producing my own music. Hey, maybe you can still hear some influences in my current "Solee" productions...haha! Anyway it was pure fun to dig out these oldies. Respect to the producers who created timeless masterpieces!!!


Q: Parquet Recordings is an established label since lots of years. What are your future plans with it?

A: Actually I´m really happy as things are now with Parquet Recordings. I still feel that the label is growing and getting more support from many different sites. So i think I don´t change a lot in future and will try to sign furthermore good music & artists and follow my musical concept, irrespective of any amusing trends or hypes.

Q: Which new Solee releases are in progress?

A: My "10 Years Parquet Recordings" CD Mix-Compilation has just been released including a new production called "Hyper". Furthermore I finished some remixes for artists like Habischman, Djuma Soundsystem, Third Son & Wally Lopez or Oliver Schories. They will be released in the coming weeks/months. Some new originals are also in progress - so stay tuned.

Wenn du aus deinem Herzen heraus die Welt wahrnimmst, wirst du eine völlig andere Erfahrung von ihr machen, als wenn du sie über die Ratio, den Verstand, wahrnimmst. Der Verstand ist ein Blender. Der Verstand behauptet stets zu verstehen, selbst dann, wenn er nicht versteht. Notfalls reimt er sich seine Wahrheit einfach zusammen. Er konstruiert sich verzweifelt ein absurdes Modell von der Welt, vom Leben, von der Liebe – von der gesamten Existenz. Um nicht dem Wahnsinn zu verfallen, behauptet er dann, verstanden zu haben, was niemals verstanden werden kann, denn nichts ist für den Verstand schlimmer, als das eigene Unverständnis – er kann nicht akzeptieren, was er nicht versteht.
Die Existenz aber ist unmöglich zu verstehen – sie bleibt ein ewiges Mysterium, das es zu akzeptieren, das zu erfahren gilt. Der Verstand ist vor dem Mysterium der Existenz zur Kapitulation gezwungen. Verzweifelt, doch völlig sinnlos, ist er dennoch bemüht zu verstehen, was weder verstanden werden kann noch verstanden werden muss. Das bringt den Verstand förmlich um den Verstand. Und daraus resultiert auch das große Leid des Menschen – er zerbricht an der Knechtschaft des Verstehen-Wollens, er unterliegt einer Unmöglichkeit.

Das Herz aber weiß! Es muss nicht erst verstehen – es ist fähig, unmittelbar aus sich selbst heraus zu wissen, zu akzeptieren. Wenn du die Welt durch dein Herz erfährst, findest du eine natürliche Form der Heiterkeit, eine ursprüngliche Freundlichkeit den Ereignissen gegenüber. So wie der Delfin heiter durch die Fluten gleitet, so tut dies auch ein Mensch, der seinem Herzen die Führung überlässt – das Dasein wird zu einer mystischen, abenteuerlichen Gleitstrecke, selbst in schwierigen Situationen.
Darum folge deinem Herzen, finde Leichtigkeit, die du bisher nicht kanntest! Lass dich auf das große Mysterium der Existenz ein, indem du das Herz zu deinem Führer und den Verstand zu deinem Diener machst. Allein das Herz kennt den Weg – entdecke deine Herzintelligenz und entwickle sie zur Vollkommenheit!

Echte Intelligenz hat nichts mit Logik zu tun – echte Intelligenz bedeutet Bewusstsein. Bewusstsein befindet sich immer jenseits aller Logik, denn Logik ist eine Sache des Verstandes. Der Verstand aber kann Bewusstsein nicht erfassen, er kann es nicht begreifen, denn Bewusstsein ist grenzenlos. Er selbst jedoch ist begrenzt, er ist bloß Produkt des Bewusstseins, er ist ein Ausdruck davon, nicht seine Quelle. Das Herz aber ist der Ort, jene Schnittstelle, an dem diese Quelle entspringt.

Die Zukunft der Menschheit liegt demgemäß im Herzen. Der nächste erforderliche Evolutionsschritt des Menschen ist zweifelsohne die Entdeckung und vollständige Entwicklung echter Intelligenz. Der Sitz echter Intelligenz befindet sich, entgegen dem bestehenden Paradigma, im Herzen – nicht im Verstand. Echte Intelligenz ist Bewusstsein – Herzintelligenz. Echte Intelligenz ist stets unbegrenzt. Das Herz ist grenzenlos intelligent, der Verstand aber unterliegt enger Grenzen. Der Verstand sollte demnach Diener des Herzens sein, nicht umgekehrt. Das Herz weiß das, was dem Verstand auf ewig verwehrt bleibt, weil es sich der Intuition, weil es sich der göttlichen Impulse bedient. Durch jene Intuition, durch jene göttlichen Impulse ist es direkt mit der Existenz verbunden.
