Segundo compilado de Tepeme Música, celebrando nuestro quinto aniversario.

Mictlán II es un álbum conceptual donde siete artistas que elegimos crearon su interpretación del viaje al inframundo según la mitología y cosmovisión prehispánica de los Aztecas.

Mictlán es el inframundo y parte del universo vertical, creado por la pareja de dioses soberanos de los muertos. Sus nueve niveles representan el viaje del Dios Tonatiuh, quien, al morir en el poniente, ingresa a su fase de oscuridad realizando un viaje al Mictlán, donde están las entrañas de la tierra, lugar donde se reposa y se gestan los componentes que han de nacer renovados para posarse nuevamente sobre la tierra.

Estas dos fases, luz y oscuridad, se asocian directamente con los conceptos de vida y muerte. En un sentido simbólico, artístico y filosófico nuestra vida cobra la misma suerte: emergemos desde el interior del vientre para ver la luz, forjamos nuestra vida para alcanzar el máximo desarrollo haciendo florecer nuestro corazón y finalmente nuestra vida se apaga, y justo ahí comienza un viaje al Mictlán donde nuestro cuerpo será depositado al interior de la tierra.

Tepeme Monamictlán es el segundo de los nueve niveles y residencia de Tepeyóllotl (dios de las montañas, los ecos y el jaguar). Esta es la región donde dos montañas chocan, produciendo ecos como señal a los muertos para cruzar al siguiente nivel.

Following our tradition, Mictlán II is a concept album in which seven artists we selected created their interpretation of the journey to the underworld according to the pre-Hispanic mythology and cosmovision of the Aztecs.

Mictlán is the underworld and part of the vertical universe, created by the pair of sovereign Gods of the Dead. Its nine levels represent the journey of the God Tonatiuh, who, upon dying in the west, enters his phase of darkness, making a trip to Mictlán, where the entrails of the Earth are, a place of rest and gestation of components that are to be born renewed to land again on Earth.

These two phases, light and darkness, are directly associated with the concepts of life and death. In a symbolic, artistic and philosophical sense, our life takes on the same fate: we emerge from inside the womb to see the light, we forge our lives to reach the maximum development making our hearts flourish and finally our life dies down, and right there begins a trip to Mictlán where our body will be deposited inside the Earth.

Tepeme Monamictlán is the second of the nine levels and residence of Tepeyóllotl (god of the mountains, the echoes and the jaguar). This is the region where two mountains collide, producing echoes as a signal to the dead to cross to the next level.

YUUL KIN  en el idioma maya, significa rayo y sol, el cual transmite la transcendencia del día. El rayo de sol indica el inicio, siendo una guía para poder encontrar nuestro camino a través de la música.
La música es un idioma universal, nos permite contar historias mediante un lenguaje que a todos nos hace viajar y sentir cada momento en función a la transición de los sonidos, el presente.  

Este EP representa el paso cenital que nos acompaña en nuestro paso por la armonía solar y así mismo nos muestra que vamos de camino al futuro sin perder nuestras raíces.

YUUL KIN in the Mayan language, means ray and sun, which transmits the transcendence of the day. The sunbeam indicates the beginning, being a guide to find our way through music.
Music is a universal language, it allows us to tell stories through a language that makes us all travel and feel each moment based on the transition of sounds, the present. This EP represents the zenithal passage that accompanies us in our passage through solar harmony and likewise shows us that we are on our way to the future without losing our roots.

Image design and composition is probably one of the most fundamental forms of artistic expression. This field of art is almost infinite in its possible manifestations. An image can be created with highly complex computer programmes or with the simplest of means. In the digital cosmos, each pixel can be configured exactly according to the artists ideas and wishes. In contrast, impressive works of art can also be created with natural materials such as stones, twigs or with coal. The ability to compose images is as complicated as it is simple. It depends on the artist and his creative intention. The Canvas remix by Just Emma & Urem is a little darker than the original version. Expressive percussions and analogue-sounding synths give the song a clubby makeover. Elements of the original track are used thoughtfully and in specific places. Among other things, the unique vocals are incorporated into the new composition. Overall, this remix is a successful addition to the original and presents another form of Canvas music. Thank you for this piece of art.

Originaire de Lyon et étudiant en mode à Milan, Automated Desire a toujours eu ce besoin d'explorer et de créer, en s'informant sur la peinture, le cinéma, les arts visuels... Mais son dévouement s'exprime surtout en musique. Il commence très tôt à composer du dubstep, pour ensuite trouver sa voie dans la Dub, la Drum&Bass et le Breakbeat.

A travers son premier EP solo, l'artiste propose un voyage visceral vers l'autodestruction et l’abandon de soi, illustré par des sonorités raw et chromées, résultat d’un croisement entre le Dub, le Garage et la Jungle. Le résultat est un projet qui peut aussi bien être écouté en concert qu’en pleine virée nocturne.

Coming from Lyon and studying Fashion Design in Milan, Automated Desire has always felt an urge to explore and create, by learning about painting, cinema, visual arts... But his dedication is mostly expressed in music. He first began to compose dubstep, and then found his way in Dub, Drum&Bass and Breakbeat.

Through his debut solo EP, the artist offers a visceral journey towards self-destruction and abandonment, illustrated by raw and chrome sounds, the result of a crossing between Dub, Garage and Jungle. Détérioration is a project that can be listened to in a concert as well as coming back home after a night out.

"Camina" is Daniel Imhof’s first release on Monada. Both songs are minimalist in their sound structure and yet radiate a true fullness of emotion. A slow, soulful and warm journey through deep space into an imaginary world, where a certain kind of peace of mind can unfold. After decades of playing for crowds as a club DJ, this Lp reflects his gradual move towards the sonic realm of ambient music. He is thrilled by the contributions of the artists on this project.

Daniel Imhof is a musician and DJ based in a village close to Bern. His studio on the grounds of an organic farm is surrounded by birch trees. When he lets his gaze wander over his modular landscape, sometimes a red kite or a white crane flies into the picture. This might be one of the reasons why his music has this organic feel to it. His monthly ambient show "voyage" on the alternative radio station "Rabe" on Sunday mornings is an invitation to listen deeply, to lie down, to daydream. Occasionally he plays live for sleep concerts or other kinds of horizontal meditations.

But how long is Now? ∞ In zijn’s family of origin, music has been heard since prehistoric times as the essential art of all the arts, which were omnipresent from an early age. He was literally born with the talent of the sound artist. Some instruments shaped the career and the basic emotional feeling. When he was growing up, the first attempts came with old, cheap CD-Players to Mix Techno. And later then, Downtempo discovered zijn’s constant 'permacreative' urge to create and so began a timeless journey through electronic worlds of sound, sometimes melodious, sometimes deep, sometimes hypnotic, sometimes colorfully mixed and then again simply and with organic influences.

"Rokia Traore is a brilliant singer and guitarist from Mali drawing on the deep musical traditions of her country to create modern Afro-pop.  She wrote her first songs in the mid-90s under the artist direction of another Malian legend, Ali Farka Toure.  Her mysterious, mature  voice hypnotized me many years ago when I saw her on her first tour to the US.  I was inspired to give her gorgeous song "Dounia" a slow-burning down-tempo house edit. Rokia Traore - Dounia (Yemanjo Edit)

The next release scheduled for the 1st of March 2021, was composed by Eat My Butterfly, an artist from the Reunion Island. Behind this chrysalis, hides Dilo, percussionist, composer, and performer whose musical signature mixes as much the traditional Maloya as the primitive grunt of her synthesizers.

The title Déor (Outside in Creole language) was written in the spring of 2020 during the 1st lockdown and echoes this period of calm and introspection for humans where nature and the singing of birds had regained their rights for a few weeks.

Three remixes complete this spring release from three different continents. Lagartijeando, child of the Argentinian hinterland and author of many releases on ZZK Records, Leeu, South African artist, whose Suidtronica made its place in the country of kwaito and deep house, and Dan Bay, whose many outings are an invitation to travel and contemplation.

One year to the day, after time has stopped the space of a lockdown, this title comes to remind each one of us of this introspective period in history and especially not to forget that we, humans, are only guests on this earth.
