28th October sees distinguished Spanish DJ, producer and Sincopat label boss AFFKT release the first of two instalments of remix EPs of his recently released second album, ‘Son Of A Thousand Sounds’, distributed via his aforementioned imprint.

Praised for its genre-defying style, Valencia artist AFKKT aka Marc Martinez Nadal’s sophomore album coupled sounds from Dance, Electronic, Indie and more with a formidable line-up of guests including singer Sutja Gutierrez and producers Upercent and Piek. It was an album that exhibited his technical ability and further highlighted why he has been so in demand since his 2012 debut, ‘Punto 0’.

Kicking off the release is Sicilian DJ/producer, Paul Ursin, who reworks ‘Esclafit’, turning the playful Electronic number into a sinister, deep-groover. M.in and D-Lee’s remix of ‘Mareny’ follows, seeing the pair utilising the original’s driving synths and fusing them with layered drums and looped vocals.

Rising Spanish talent Squire turns AFFKT and Upercent’s track ‘Boria’ into a deep, understated House number, retaining the psychedelic palette whilst still pushing the track in new directions. 

Closing the first remix EP is Wavekiki’s edit of ‘Someone In The Sky’, featuring Sutja Gutierrez. This 7-minute outing brings Sutja’s silky vocals to the front of the track, introducing nuances of strings and guitars to great effect.

‘Son Of A Thousand Sounds Remixed 01’ is available via Sincopat from 28th October.

He actually had sort of a disclosure where he said to us "If I can't be absolutely honest with who I am working with, including you or the people that are buying your house, I can't work with you guys." We bought a new house and he asked and asked and asked for the permits of the new house and they were never produced. We then were getting very close to closing and they still weren't produced. Erik spent several hours making phone calls not only to the realtor but also the contractor trying to get this done, trying to get find a way for this to work for us because frankly we thought we were going to be homeless. We thought the whole thing would fall apart and that we were going to be homeless. He managed to work out a deal with the other realtor and contractor and fortunately everything came together and we were able to go through with escrow."
