Our last artist for the year on MMD is a well-known figure in the local JHB music scene. Here with his brand new alias, @therhythmicgeek, Khathu is here to show us what he is jamming to these days.

The Rhythmic Geek has played at huge events at festivals and clubs like Truth Nightclub, Living Room, Lentedag and more. He is known as on of the integral figures that is pushing the night life scene in Pretoria, South Africa.

BIO:

The Rhythmic Geek is a DJ/producer, aesthete, astrophile, nemophilist, software developer, and overall mindfuck. Influenced by techno, electro, and township grooves, his sound takes
on a style of monotonic and hypnotic grooves. Coupled with his passion for dancing, The Rhythmic Geek wants nothing more than to share that joy with the dance floor.

He has appeared on many line-ups, and at various venues including:

- Mieliepop Music Festival
- Truth Night Club
- The Living Room
- Lentedag
- Tshwanefontein
- And WhyLy

The Rhythmic Geek played an integral part in pushing the night life scene in Pretoria as part of the Swade Shift crew, hosting events like Blom, WhyLy, Roger That, and Plus 1.

It is amazing to think Mood Series has grown so much in such a little amount of time. This is now #90. 90! Wow! Again, thank you all for your interest in this series as it means a lot to our work and mission. Wade Watts is a South African Producer/Dj from an old Township called Evaton (South Of Johannesburg). This is his first appearance to our Mood Series. 'Shades Of Grey' is the title for this outstanding 4 track digital release. Each featured here is nicely constructed with a veteran's touch. 'Particle Dispersal' is the well-paced opener here that really perks your ears up and gets your attention. The space between all the sounds works brilliantly opening up the audio spectrum for a nice and gentle build to the second offering. 'The Sands Of Nishanti' is another spacious builder that adds a bit more tech and an electro wiggle injected into the addictive rhythm parts. We especially like the more ambient parts as they really add an anticipation and atmosphere to it all. 'Mother Of The Sun' might be our favorite of the pieces. A lovely early set or early morning track that will sure to have you smiling. Peaceful and soothing, the tempo is strictly for lovers. Those keys are to die for! 'Monolith 4000 BC' concludes things on righteous dub note with a wonderfully atmospheric ocean-brisk outro. These tracks sound like you are taking a vacation near a beautiful African peninsula or beach. Scenic, calm, easy going and gentle are words that spring to mind. We can't help but be taken by 'Shades of Grey' and we think you will also!
