Mendum - One Third [NCS Release]

The seeds for this exciting collaboration between Nick Warren and Guy Mantzur were sown a long time ago during snatched conversations at airport terminals, online and at various shows around the world. But, their hectic schedules has meant that patience has been a necessary virtue when it came to actually finding time to work together on this new project. However, the final product – “Sad Robot” – for John Digweed’s Bedrock label has definitely been worth the wait!

This sparkling gem of a track pushes all the right buttons: a low-slung, percussive groove backbone, peppered with twisted vocal snippets and an ebb and flow of euphoric attitude that only comes from years of experience of rocking the best dancefloors around the world week in week out. With added excitement in the form of an energetic, throbbing monster of a remix by Musumeci (aka Sicilian DJ/Producer Mauro Di Martino) – this new package from Bedrock is set to fly.

Nick Warren has just recently returned from another successful tour of South America, and is currently working with production partner Jody Wisternoff on a new Way Out West album. Meanwhile, Guy Mantzur has forthcoming releases lined up on Kompakt and Lost & Found. This first meeting of musical minds for Bedrock has proved such a creative success, we can only hope they find time for more collaborations like this in the future.

If you don't know the name VAX yet ...no worries, I will help with that. Dude is a mad man on the decks and if that isn't enough he's a sick producer as well. Can't really classify him in to one genre. He does all kinds of stuff. I'd say it's mostly Dubstep and Electronica but he's got some dope tracks at around 170bpm as well. He somewhat recently moved down here to the ATL and we became friends rather quickly. We've got quite a few tunes already, some in the works and some already finished. Hydrate will be the flip to Groove Rider which is currently scheduled for a November 2012 release date. There will also be a VAX EP forthcoming on Santoku so keep an ear out for that; definitely dope, definitely different. Hope you guys dig this one. As always please favorite and comment if you do.
