Kauai Independent Media (KIM) continues the conversation on the stray cat population issues, and also discusses helping strays and to reduce overpopulation in general. The story was produced by Monique Rowan and was aired on Out of the Box with KKCR for KIM yesterday between 4-6pm in replacement of Thursday's usual news in brief news segment.

There are at least 20,000 stray cats on island as of last year, according to Outside online magazine and the Kauai Community Cat Project. Stray cats pose a threat to many native Hawaiian Species including Hawaiian Petrels. Animal Balance came to the islands and Kauai this month to address stray animal population issues. They plan on focus on helping stray cats specifically on their next trip to Kauai.
