Here's a rework of a timeless classic from one of my favorite band of the phenomenal late 80s/early 90s French indie/punk/rock scene.
I cannot recommend you more to catch them live whenever possible. Despite the passing away of their charismatic singer Helno almost 30 years ago, they still have the same festive energy.

Here's a rework of a 1979 Brazilian samba/jazz classic from Airto Moreira.

Airto - Toque De Cuica (V4YS Rework)

I composed this short tune using only Super PSG VSTI by AlyJames (http://www.alyjameslab.com/alyjameslabsuperpsg.html), which emulates the SN76489 sound chip found in the Sega Master System, Game Gear and Genesis / Mega Drive consoles.

I used several instances for the different instruments and drums, but no other plugins or effects, except a bit of U-he Satin love for mastering.

I didn't even use a 10% of what the plugin is capable of, only because I wanted to stay mostly faithful to the factory specs of the sound chip.

This song here is kind of inspired by guys on soundcloud like Urban Flow, Monostory, and all those other awesome mo-fo's on Soundcloud that make rad hip hip loops the way hip hop is supposed to sound (in my opinion) My brother had an app with some beats on it so I took it, sampled it, and threw it into VGMM. Next thing you know Groovemaster303 and I have created this, I'll shut up and let the music speak for itself, but man we had a blast with this! Enjoy!

An artist issued from the vivid 80's French alternative Rock scene, Patrick Coutin is first and foremost known to the French audience for his 1981 hit "J'aime Regarder Les Filles".

Released in 1990, as a bonus track of a re-issue of his first album, "Fais-moi Jouir" is definitely hotter in term of lyrics, but as much fun. Its cool laid-back rythm inspired me this reggae-flavored DJ-friendly edit.

Patrick Coutin - Fais-moi Jouir (V4YS Riddim Edit) (new mstr version 2018)

Written by Jacques Higelin & Brigitte Fontaine, "La Grippe" was recorded in 1965. It was produced by legendary 40's/50's/60's talent scout Jacques Canetti, as part of a longer collection of songs, "12 chansons d'avant le déluge", which I highly recommend.

Founder of "Les 3 Baudets" club in Paris in the late 40s, Canetti auditionned Jacques Higelin for the first time in 1955. Only 15-year-old at the time,  young Higelin impressed him, but was too young for Canetti to promote...yet. 
Canetti told Higelin' parents that day that Jacques will probably hear from him again...when he turns 25. And kept his word, by producing this first record in Higelin long career!

To me, this wonderful little song sounds like an early echo of the bossa/jazz wave that hit in France in the late 60's/early 70's. Higelin actually subsequently worked a lot with the Saravah Records label, created by the man who introduced Brazilian sounds in France, Pierre Barough. 

Here is my samba/bossa Dj-friendly revisit of this song, as a humble tribute to Higelin's talent and legacy.

About this song :
This song is set to a traditional Afro-Colombian Bullerengue rhythm and orchestrated in a very delicate way. An homage to disappearing trades killed by modernity. The lyrics were inspired by an encounter in 2005 in a former fishing town in northern Colombia, where Perditi met a fisherman weaving a net, worrying about the few fish left in the area. During the 2014 GKO tour in Colombia, Perditi went out looking for the fisherman but he was long gone, the town swallowed by history, transformed into a tourist paradise. Our own cosmo brother @ungunga decide to make a special edit dancefloor friendly.

About this edit :
Here's my drummed-up, percussion-rich rework of Diane Tell's timeless sensual groove "Je Suis En Amour", with a special focus on the warm and sexy chorus parts. In a post-coved world, I already picture myself playing this during a DJ set, at sunset, in a cosy open-air beach bar. Or maybe in a cool place overlooking the majestic Saint-Laurent with funky Quebec dancers :)

About Diane Tell :
Diane Tell is a Canadian musician who was born in Quebec City, Quebec. As one of Québec’s pioneering female singer-songwriters, she proposed her personal repertoire over the course of her first four albums. She won six Félix prizes before the age of 25: breakout artist, best artist, best album, best song and, twice, songwriter of the year. Several of her songs have become SOCAN Classics and Si j’étais un homme was inducted in the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2017.  Over the past 25 years, Tell has toured relentlessly, written, composed and recorded in Canada, France, the U.K. and Switzerland. In 2018, she produced her 15th studio album of original material in Montréal. FREE DL :  Diane Tell - Je Suis En Amour (V4YS Edit)

Je suis né au tout début des années 90 à Rouen, en Seine Maritime (représente !). De parents artistes. Très tôt mon paternel m'initia à la musique (particulièrement le violon). Cependant, bercé par un naturel distrait, dissipé, je ne n'ai retrouvé cet amour pour la musique que des années plus tard, en 2004. 

J'étais un ado d'environ 13 ans lorsque je découvrais avec émerveillement la MAO, le mix, la musique électronique, bref, tout ce qui touche de près ou de loin le djing et la culture musicale noctambule et urbaine... Entres des influences jazz et classiques par mon père, rock, pop, grunge par ma mère et hiphop par ma grande soeur, j'avais le bagage nécessaire pour attaquer mes premières soirées privées. Un peu plus d'un an s'écoule et c'est en 2009 que j'obtiens mon premier poste de DJ résident au Crystal Room à Rouen.(je naviguais alors entre le 35 et le 76)

2010 je rencontre un grand monsieur (dans tous les sens du terme) Florent, qui me fera entrer chez Alive Prod et m'a permis de jouer dans quelques établissement bien connus des nuit Rennaises: Le Zing, Le Pym's (aujourd'hui 1988 Live Club), l'Hacienda où mon fabuleux compère Yaburtz avons mis le feu régulièrement lors de soirées que nous avions subtilement appelé "Fist Noising" (n.d.l.r l'Hacienda qui est maintenant Le Monfort) Le Backstage, Le Delicatessen...

J'ai ensuite occupé pendant trois année et demi le poste de DJ résident à La Contrescarpe et pendant un an au Bar Room Club.

Aujourd'hui, déterminé à mettre à profit tout ce que j'ai acquis pendant ces 10 années de découverte et d'apprentissage, j'ai ressorti mes bon vieux vinyles pour proposer des sets disco, funk, house, dans une ambiance chaleureuse, chic et groovy.

Actuellement, vous pouvez me retrouver tous les vendredis au Chatham (Rue de Monfort, Rennes).
