In mud and rain I bent, my backbone strained in pain,
With hands of sweat and years that chained like iron chain.
I carved the furrows deep, for futures yet to grow,
Kneeled in the dusk and prayed the hidden seeds would show.
You every season's call, I bowed into the ground,
I offered up the sun, for harvest still unfound.
When thunder called my name, the hoe struck back in time,
Each strike became a rhythm, faith set in rhyme.

Boots split the clay apart, the plow cut scars so deep,
The furrows drew a map, a path the roots would keep.

Till thunder birthed new sprouts, in layered lines they spoke. 

Yet plague's dark shadow spread across the land,
I fell to earth, the fields froze where they stand.
Within that void a gilded king appeared,
He built his hall and feasted while they cheered.

They bartered out the echo, let a manufactured choir resound,
Filled banquet halls with borrowed light, where false brilliance crowned.
On base drums crude and flutes so thin they feigned relief,
They gorged on hollow peace, and swelled in vain belief.

Their chalices brimmed with lies that passed for wine,
Each toast proclaimed a triumph never truly mine.
The marble floors resounded with their hollow cheer,
A grandeur stretched so thin, yet thundered loud and clear...

A castle stands on stolen ground, with fissures webbed around,
The earth that forged my labor's worth-this split and weathered ground.
My body rests beneath the soil, with neither flag nor crown,
The story stirs in roots and worms, a voice that rumbles down.

Cold stone resisted roots that sought to claim their own.
No herald rides for me; no bells for me are rung,
