i organize my music not into "playlists" or genres but vibelists. these crates can span genres, keys, and bpm. if you follow my spotify, you've probably seen these vibelists at the bottom of my profile. each one matches a feeling, a mood, and an experience. in the same night you can be in a jazz club in hollywoood followed by a groovy underground house party until the sun comes up over the LA river. you can go camping over the weekend nestled in canyons beneath sycamore cheers a hop skip and jump from the beach, and you can run to the market if you need extra firewood. 

growing up in california, especially los angeles helped me understand the dichotomy of positive and negative- the yin and yang of the universe. affluent neighborhoods minutes (without traffic) from lower income residents, everyone blending across the whole space.

la gets a bad rap, but as a native i've seen a side of this city and this state unlike what the media portrays. people from all backgrounds working, living, and playing in a beautiful fabric of sprawling city juxtaposed by sweeping vistas of mountains and the pacific ocean. of course all this beauty and positivity is constantly shadowed by the threat of devastating wildfires. but to fear will render us static, and while this constant danger looms we can revel in the natural beauty of this place. 

politics and forest management aside, these natural spaces of california and los angeles are unique. its a challenge to clear brush and plant matter because these plants have adapted to this climate long before we were here and unfortunately centuries of human migration have also brought invasive species that created the landscapes tapestry. It may not look like much, but the dense chaparral of southern california is beautiful and full of life. Rich smells of sage and pine fill the air, and in the early hours of the morning the silence in these natural spaces is a stark contrast from the busy city life just hours from rising. 

its these mountains, bluffs, canyons and natural areas that inspired my vibelist "the wilds". this mood is defined by heady synths, jazzy grooves, and a blend of progressive, minimal, and house subgenres. this special edition of radio plata represents my homage to california and to my home los angeles. i hoped to embody the yin and yang of this incredible place by blending euphoric soundscapes with deep, introspective rhythms. step into the shoes of an angeleno and experience a vibrant blend of house music that i feel captures the essence of what it means to love and appreciate this place.

Planned to go Burning Man this year for my first time. Life got in the way. (Good things, but still, timing with surrounding events would’ve made it too much.) 
I did start planning a set though, and seeing everyone’s videos gives me serious FOMO, so here is 5 hours of what I would have played at BRC, but instead longingly recorded at home in my underwear. 
If you can, please listen to AT Burning Man and bridge me a cosmic connection, that would make my day! 
It’s a groovy, multi-genre, opener style set, great to pregame to … or to wind down to. Sometimes it goes hard. But then I bring it back down pretty quickly. Recorded alone, so it’s all over the map, in a good way I hope.

Let’s get to know the artist known as @jaffy-music :

Jaffy has been behind the decks for 6 years, cutting his teeth at more than 1,000 gigs across Arizona. His journey began after discovering that electronic music was the primary reason he lived life with a gas tank full of optimism and pep in his step. Over the years, he’s mastered a technical approach to DJ’ing and takes pride in treating the hardware like an instrument rather than a play button. Last year, he entered the Tech House world with his first release on the esteemed Dirtybird Records and continues to expand his knowledge inside the DAW. Jaffy’s mission is to inspire others to be better people on Monday, once the party is over.
