Atish and Mark Slee - Robot Heart - Burning Man 2013

A trip into the turning. The turning of day into night and people turning it inside and out and round about. Day for Night places Australia’s boldest queer artists in a durational performance wunderkammer. Part exhibition, part performance art go-go, and part T-dance, Day for Night delivers creativity right to heart of the Mardi Gras party season, continuing Performance Space’s thirty-year commitment to queer performance. As the exhibition draws to a close and day turns to night, the space transforms into a large-scale dance party with Stereogamous at the helm. You better get involved lovers: FEB 13 the 15th! 

Curated by Jeff Khan (Performance Space) and Emma Price (The Kingpins), and scored in collaboration with futurist electronic musicians Stereogamous (Paul Mac and Jonny Seymour), Day for Night sets you free to roam through the exhibition, encountering the performances on your own terms. As the large-scale dance party emerges, the artists flick the switch on their works and you experience it all in an electric new context. Woo hoo!

The key cultural event of Mardi Gras 2014, Day for Night features an awe-inspiring line up of artists including Justin Shoulder (The River Eats, 2013), Alex Clapham and Penelope Benton (I Want Candy, Underbelly 2013), burlesque supernova Lillian Starr, durational performance art hero Frances Barrett with Samuel Bruce, cLUB bENT veteran Dean Walsh, Sydney dance stalwart Martin del Amo,and explosive all-grrrl collective Hissy Fit.

ALIEN ALIEN - "Sambaca" (Original Mix)

After a couple of lesser spotted DJ stars, we now look to someone who has blown up in a very short space of time. Based in the Windy City, The Black Madonna has not only released some highly sought after, steamy disco-house 12”s on Argot, Stripped & Chewed and The Nite Owl Diner, but so too has she started making her mark as chief booker at Chicago’s famous Smart bar. As well as this, she has found time to lay down sets all across Europe and North America and this latest podcast proves why the opinionated feminist is so in demand. It is a kinetic and athletic mix that goes from deep and heady to jump up and jacking, from diva vocals to dazzling disco and one that both starts and ends with a fat bottomed reggae swagger. 

She says of the mix: ”I had so much fun doing this. I got snowed in at the house where all the guys from Stripped & Chewed live. We're lucky the electricity stayed on. There was a terrible blizzard here! So I just stayed there and recorded. It's the first time I DJed since my hearing came back too. I had a little audience trapped with me, so was a great time.”

This is the 2nd track of my album ƒin. 
It was half produced half in Barcelona and half in Pional's studio in Madrid. We made three sessions of recordings during 2011 and in fact it's the track that took most time to finish in the album. Pional played some keys too and some percussions, he's the best :)
