From its humble beginnings in the early 90s to its mainstream appeal at the end of the decade, Trip Hop quickly became one of the most prominent genres to come out of the UK, captivating audiences everywhere with its odd fusion of soft, atmospheric textures and gritty, sedated breakbeats of hip-hop. As time went on, the genre quickly began to unfurl, experimenting on different genres such as dub, reggae, jazz, soul, house and R&B, just to name a few.
