Drumcode returns with its 6th installment of the internationally celebrated A-Sides series. Renowned for fostering a shared space between industry tastemakers and rising talent alike, the careful curation that goes into each volume is a fine example of why Beyer’s brand continues to go from strength to strength.

Techno titan Adam Beyer has grown Drumcode into a force to be reckoned with; the label has become synonymous with forward-thinking, functional techno and even after 20 years, Drumcode continues to find new boundaries to push, and ways to solidify its legacy as the world’s number one techno label. 

2017 is no exception, with Beyer’s imprint hosting it’s first stage at Tomorrowland, not to mention the expansion of the critically acclaimed Junction 2 where the Drumcode stage is the centrepiece and Adam plays the key role of festival director. The Drumcode phenomenon continues to grow each week, chiefly fuelled by Drumcode Radio, Adam’s radio show that’s broadcast in 57 countries via 86 stations and to a global audience of 16 million techno fans per week. 

The A-Sides series acts as a perfect vignette of Drumcode’s cutting-edge sound; functional yet inspired techno, all tracks tried and tested by Beyer himself. Vol. 6 continues this tradition with a collection of 16 multi-faceted cuts from a mixture of both emerging artists and experienced label friends. 

The heart-throbbing bass in Amelie Lens’ electrifying piece ‘In Silence’ sets the tone for the dark and dance-floor-ready energy that Vol.6 carries the whole way through. Other standouts include Mars Bill’s rough’n’ready ‘Mohave’. Pulsating and precise, ‘Mohave’ has highlighted many of Beyer’s sets recently as has Wehbba’s monster track ‘Fake’, which fans have been anticipating the release of all year. 

Label-favourites Dense & Pika also feature on ‘A-Sides’ Vol. 6 with their hard-hitting ‘Just a Beat’ and a huge track from Beyer himself who has joined forces with Enrico Sangiuliano to bring us their undeniably infectious ‘Preset Heaven’. 

With many more notable selections from the likes of Julian Jewell, Timmo, Tiger Stripes and Pig&Dan, A-Sides Vol. 6 is another impressive addition to the label’s prolific release roster and a testament to why Drumcode remains at the forefront of the electronic world.

Franz is a 25 year old Italian DJ and Music Producer, currently living in Berlin. He started studying musical theory at the age of four, but his passion for music means that he is constantly improving and learning new artistic skills.

Chopin, Mozart, Liszt and Bach were crucial for his artistic growth and he now draws inspiration from these classical musicians’ work. Playing music and composing tracks quickly became Franz’s religion, who, in time, has become appreciated for his style (deep / progressive house but also with vintage sounds) and for his skills behind the decks.

Now, he usually composes deep, tech house and techno tracks, but he also enjoys “vintage” and “electro” mixes such as remixing tracks by famous and emerging artists in an old school style.

In August, 2013 he released his first EP “K8” on the german label Trapez Ltd (Traum), that in two days reached #46 place on Beatport top 100. K8, the main track, has been played and supported by many artists and has also been included in the Trapez Ltd selection mixed by Pavel Petrov. Just a few months later, Franz released his second EP on Poesie Musik, a division of the famous label Get Physical Music. The main track, To survive has been played by several artists and even on BBC Radio 1 (UK).

This year, he has already released on Traum, Get Physical and Parquet as well as remixes for Fritz Kalkbrenner and Alle Farben, with a few more releases expected before the end of the year.

Aside from producing new tracks, Franz is building his reputation by playing in clubs both in Berlin and in the rest of Europe.

Hailing from the heart of Eastern Europe, Anii (real name Ania Iwinska) has made the long journey from Poland to London to master her skills in music production at the renowned music school, Point Blank. Ańii's love for the city has grown since graduating and she proudly calls London her home. 

Today, having found her heart and soul in the techno/house scene, Ańii demonstrates her passion of music through deep, dark techno and soulful deep house. She has previous releases on Stil Vor Talent, Polymath, Sincopat, Parquet and Making You Dance.

KOMPAKT PODCAST #1 - Ańii

Tale Of Us present a new collaboration with Vaal for the sixth release on their Afterlife label. Three years after they teamed up for ‘Concur’ and began to tour together, the trio return with their most anthemic offering yet. Vaal’s hauntingly-beautiful and instantly-recognisable vocals are the centre-piece on ‘Monument’, building on the style of her Wander To Hell EP (AL002). The drums and shimmering synth lines are moody and uplifting in the way Tale Of Us have made their own, arranged perfectly for the psychedelic breakthrough.

On the flip side, ‘The Hangar’ takes a different approach to equally devastating effect. It pumps with added urgency and a thunderous, steely bassline lunges out from the low-end. Designed for large soundsystems and big rooms, ‘The Hangar’ finds Tale Of Us and Vaal at their most direct and it’s something to behold.

Barnt and Stephan Bodzin, two artists whose stand-out performances at recent Afterlife events have made them firm favourites with the crowds, are tapped for the remixes (AL007). They both take on ‘Monument’, Barnt opting for a rolling, percussive direction and Bodzin more ethereal and transportive.

Guy Gerber - What To Do (&ME Remix)

It's been quite a wait for new &ME material here on Keinemusik. But these two new cuts, adding to our catalogue number KM046, sure have been worth waiting for. The EP starts with The Rapture Pt.II and as the title already suggests, it coherently takes up where his last original material had left us, in a stirred state of sweet, harmony-kissed affection. Known as a virtuoso of sound-details, &ME lives up to that reputation, implementing fine synth-elements and temperately rattling percussions, all conjoined by shimmering layers and, of course, an ultimately heart-melting Piano improvisation that at some point will play along to the rhythm of its synthetic brother to a finale that will leave no crowd untouched.

"Solaris" on the flipside adds indeed a futuristic note to the arrangement, opening up with a broken beat and propelling claps. A cut that, as much as its predecessor, is relying on flow and organic shifts rather than forced and peaktime formatted gimmickry, adding a synth arpeggio, white noise, vocal chants and harmonies in a rather subtle way. Nevertheless, it unfolds a compelling strength to heat the dancefloor gradually through its playtime.

A further release smashes again like a distorted bass drum. The "Perpetual" EP produced by Arpow comes with two originals. Arpow incorporates small textures into each track, which are not always noticeable at first hearing, but give the tracks a high degree of liveliness. Especially in "Perpetual" this vibrancy is clearly evident. The track changes several times over its entire length and becomes deeper and intenser. 

"Neuron Circuit" is the more melodic version of a techno track that always functions at any time. From the beginning it goes strongly forward, drives, ties up and moves the legs. The hi-hats in combination with the very tight bassline as well as the synth elements give the final touch to the track. Dancefloor weapons!

One thing is certain in uncertain times, there comes a phase of maximizing creative ouputs. The same is true for the next Wout Record release produced by Øntold and Yonder of Tomorrows. The "Apex" EP wave-like merges into two parts. With wide bass synths and an expressive kick "Climax" truly deserves its name. Over seven minutes long-winded pads develop into a beautiful sound meshwork; here and there chiptune sounds and noise effects pop up. Sophisticated and harmonious. Although somewhat darker in character, "In My Time Of Reach" fits into this overall style. Basic elements of the track are various shuffled arpeggios; sometimes with short, crisp attack times of the synth, sometimes with long, expressive soundscapes. The EP is a charismatic monster reflecting finest modern electronic music. Welcome to our label.

More than a label, Stil vor Talent is a family. As we reach our fifteenth year together, we honor and celebrate our artists, staff, crew, dancers and listeners.  

We marvel at the thousands of hours of incredible music released. We respect the tenacity, skill and courage of our artists. We tip our hats to the community we have created over fifteen years of throwing parties and festivals. With full hearts, we reflect on the laughter, the fun, the dancing, the connections.  

Strangers have become friends, nights turned into days, and millions of steps have been meted out on the dancefloor as we journey with music together, creating pure magic in streets and clubs and festivals all over the world. This is acceptance, this is diversity, this is love.

We salute you: thank you for helping us to keep the dream alive. Now we invite you to celebrate the collective evolution of fifteen years of diverse styles, innumerable talents, friendship, collaboration and community under the Stil vor Talent umbrella.

Our 15th-anniversary gift is a nod to the evolution of Stil vor Talent: we present two 11 track compilations that will scratch every musical itch. From the downright dirty dancefloor bangers to the gentler melancholic tracks more suited to the day-after-the-nights before,

The table is laid, the scene is set to continue our ode to the evolution of dance music and celebrate fifteen years of Stil vor Talent.

Part 2 of our anniversary compilation sees the somewhat elusive, always euphoric Deorbiting kick off proceedings with ‘Spaziergang Im All’, a gleaming serenade of scales meandering through a field of glinty melodic techno.

Newcomer to the Stil vor Talent fold is Berlin techno composer Tim Engelhardt, who hits all the high notes and adds a dash of exotic tropicalia with ‘A Million Sunsets’.

Mysterious Swedish duo Elfenberg have graced the decks at many of our festivals and parties, and we just can’t stop loving the steady groove of the movement filled, driving soundscapes of ‘Danny’.

Elif offers us a taste of her self-taught, nomadic style of music as medicine with ‘Entaglement’, a slow-burning story told with beats and sound.

pølaroit kick it out of the park with ‘Bound to Each Other’, a melodic uptempo affair featuring the sublime vocals of HRRSN.

A deep bow to label founder Oliver Koletzki, who has carried forth the vision of Stil vor Talent to create an ever-growing coterie of music aficionados, offering them the support and the platform to share their styles and talents with the world.
